Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Ankhiyon ko rahne de

Posted on: March 30, 2009

“Bobby”(1973) was made by Raj Kapoor to launch the career of his son, Rishi Kapoor, and his career got launched alright.

But considering that it was a love story, and a love story calls for a new girl too, the career of Dimple Kapadiya, playing “Bobby” got launched as well. It is just that she, unlike Rishi Kapoor, almost kissed her career goodbye. Soon thereafter, she married a much older and the then reigning superstar rajesh Khanna, and it was thought that Dimple’s career was over with this one movie. In the next decade, she made a comeback and had a reasonable run in her second innings as an actress.

Here is a nice sentimental song picturised on Dimple in “Bobby”. Convinced that she has been betrayed by Rishi Kapoor, she sings this sad song. This song is sung by Lata. It is written by Anand Bakshi and the music has been composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

Song-Ankhiyon ko rahne de (Bobby) (1973) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics

toot ke dil ke tukde tukde ho gaye mere seene mein
aa gale lag ke mar jaayen, kyaa rakhaa hai jeene mein
ankhiyon ko rahne de, ankhiyon ke aas paas
ankhiyon ko rahne de, ankhiyon ke aas paas
door se dil ki bujhti rahe pyaas
ankhiyon ko rahne de, ankhiyon ke aas paas
door se dil ki bujhti rahe pyaas
ankhiyon ko rahne de

aaa aaa
dard zamaane mein kam nahin milte
dard zamaane mein kam nahin milte
sab ko mohabbat se gham nahin milte
tootne waale dil
tootne waale dil hote hain kuchh khaas
door se dil ki bujhti rahe pyaas
ankhiyon ko rahne de

rah gayin duniyaa mein naam ki khushiyaan
rah gayin duniyaa mein naam ki khushiyaan
tere mere kis kaam ki khushiyaan
saari umar hamko
saari umar hamko rahanaa hai yoon udaas
door se dil ki bujhti rahe pyaas
ankhiyon ko rahne de, ankhiyon ke aas paas
door se dil ki bujhti rahe pyaas
ankhiyon ko rahne de
aaaa
