Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Resham ki dori

Posted on: April 2, 2009

When one speaks about “Saajan”, most people think of the 1989 movie of this name which had some very nice songs composed by Nadeem Shrawan.

But there was another “Saajan” released in 1969, and its songs were no less. If this “Saajan” is a lesser known movie, then it is because this movie had come in the golden era of Bollywood music. In any other era, its songs would have become much better known.

I have already posted one song from this movie. Here is another song. This is a duet sung by Rafi and Lata. Anand Bakshi was the lyricist and Laxmikant Pyarelal were the music directors.

Song-Resham ki dori (Saajan) (1969) Singers-Rafi, Lata, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics

resham ki dori hoy
resham ki dori
kahaan jaiho nindiyaa churaa ke chori-chori
resham ki dori hoy
resham ki dori
ho kahaan jaiho nindiyaa churaa ke chori-chori
ke resham ki dori haay
resham ki dori
kahaan jaaungi main tu hai chandaa main chakori
peepal ki chhainyaa ho
peepal ki chhainyaa
ho teri-meri ik jindadi o mere sayyaan
peepal ki chhainyaa ho
peepal ki chhainyaa
o chhodun main zamaanaa
main naa chhodun teri bayyaan
peepal ki chhainyaa haay
peepal ki chhainyaa

imli ke boote ho
imli ke boote
kal kyun na aaye main na boloon jaa o jhoothe
kal kyun na aaye main na boloon jaa o jhoothe
badaa mazaa aaye main manaaun aur tu roothe
aur tu roothe
kothe pe aari haay
kothe pe aari
tere naam kar doon jiyaa le aa patwaari
kaisaa patwaari ho
kaisaa patwaari
ye tu meraa main teri ye to jaane duniyaa saari
kaisaa patwaari ho
kaisaa patwaari

ambar pe taare haay
ambar pe taare
jeene nahin denge tere nainaa kajraare
jeene nahin denge tere nainaa kajraare
jeenaa ho jise wo aaye kyun preetam ke dwaare
preetam ke dwaare
ki misri ki daliyaan haay
misri ki daliyaan
pyaar mein kaante hain ziyaadaa thodi kaliyaan
misri ki daliyaan ho
misri ki daliyaan
ho kaante hon yaa kaliyaan pi ki galiyaan pi ki galiyaan
hmm
hmm

I don’t mean to be an asshole but Saajan was released in 91. Nice blog by the way.

hello ramneek
u r right abt saajan having released in 91 but this one had manoj kumar & asha parekh in it.
the title of the movie just goes to re-establish a trend in bollywood—- a lack of imagination in giving title to movies
what other explanation can one give for the title devdas coming 3 times till now

thanx.

sophisticated romance. very rare. went unnoticed. captured mind rather than heart.

i would like to watch this 1969, version with english sub can any one help or better still if i can watch for free on the net thanks

I must have watched this film in the mid seventies, and two songs from this film ‘saajan saajan pukaaroon’ and this one have since then in my memory …

koyi sun le gaa
chupke chupke baaten karnaa
pyar kiya to badnaami se kya darnaa

kurta malmal kaa ho
