Ae mere dil teri manzil

Posted on: May 13, 2009

I have become a big fan of music director Ganesh. He was the younger brother of Pyarelal ( of Laxmikant Pyarelal music director duo) and he was an amazingly talented music director on his own. It is unfortunate that Ganesh did not get many opportunities to showcase his talent. But whatever little opportunitiies he got are enough to establish his credentials.

I have already posted a few songs composed by Ganesh. They include such memorable songs as “dil ka soona saaz taraana dhoondhega”(Ek Naari Do Roop) , “Dil ka nazrana le o dildaar le” (Chaalaak) , and “Dil ne pyaar kiya hai ik bewafa se ” (Sharaarat).

In the above songs, Rafi, Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle’s voices were exploited so well by Ganesh to create truly outstanding and memorable songs. Here is another song, where he exploits Mukesh’s voice. Mukesh sounds so melodious in this song.

So here is this lovely song “Ae mere dil teri manzil” from “Husn Aur Ishq” (1966). This song was written by Noor Dewasi and it was picturised on Sanjeev Kumar.

Song-Ae mere dil teri manzil (Husn Aur Ishq) (1966) Singer-Mukesh, Lyrics- Noor Dewasi, MD-Ganesh

Lyrics

ai mere dil teri manzil abhi aane waali hai
aane waali hai
ai mere dil teri manzil abhi aane waali hai
aane waali hai
zaraa si der mein
zaraa si der mein teri qismat badal jaane waali hai
aaa

dhadke jo dil is zameen kaa
yaa machle ye baadal
dhadke jo dil is zameen kaa
yaa machle ye baadal
chaahat kaa paighaam sabko
tu raah mein detaa chal
ulfat kaa tuu hai deewaanaa
haan haan re deewaanaa na jaane koyi
ai mere dil teri manzil abhi aane waali hai
aane waali hai
zaraa si der mein
zaraa si der mein teri qismat badal jaane waali hai
aaa

halkaa saa unkaa ishaaraa madhosh kar degaa
halkaa saa unkaa ishaaraa madhosh kar degaa
paimaanaa aankhon se koyi hans hans ke bhar degaa
are pyaas bujhegi abhi teri
haan haan re abhi teri
ghabraanaa nahin
ai mere dil teri manzil abhi aane waali hai
aane waali hai
ai mere dil teri manzil abhi aane waali hai
aane waali hai
zaraa si der mein
zaraa si der mein teri qismat badal jaane waali hai
aaa

I didn’t know Ganesh was the younger brother of Pyarelal! (I love learning such useless things :-))

Many of the tunes of Laxmikant Pyarelal could well have been actually the tunes of Ganesh.

I am aghast at the fact that a music director as talented as Ganesh received such a raw deal from the Industry. As I discovere more and more of his songs I am becoming more and more amazed at the quality of his output.

I like his music for “Ek Nanhi Munni Ladki Thi” so much that I ripped all the songs off the DVD (which is a lot of work on a Mac, at least for me since I’m somewhat technologically challenged). There is a great Manna Dey song included in them…if you don’t know them/can’t find them let me know, I can send them to you.

I have searched for them, and so far I have drawn a blank. Indeed I would love to have them.
