Gorki patarki re maare gulelwaa jiyaraa udi udi jaaye

Bollywood movies are supposed to be Hindi movies and their censor certificate mentions them as such. If one looks at the censor certificates of movies, one finds that a few movie are certified not as Hindi but as Urdu, For instance Nassir Hussain blockbuster “ham Kisi se ka nahin” is described as an Urdu movie by its censor certificate.
As far as common audiences are concerned, there is hardly any difference in the spoken form of Hindi and Urdu. So it is fair to say that the language spoken in Bollywood movies is more accurately a language that is Hindi and Urdu combined. This language could be called Hindustani language. In fact , many leaders including Mahatma Gandhi described it as Hindustani language.
Then there are many dialects of Hindi which too contribute words to Hindustani. Some of these dialects have so many speakers that it is financially viable to produce movies in these dialects.
One of the major dialect of Hindi is called Bhojpuri which is spoken in the state of Bihar and neighbouring parts of Uttar Pradesh.
People who understand Hindi/Urdu/Hindustani have little difficulty understanding Bhojpuri. There are many songs in Bollywood that are in Bhojpuri or similar dialects and no one realises that. For instance, the “Teesri Kasam” song “chalat musaafir moh liya re pinjre waali muniya” can well be called a Bhojpuri song. “Nain lad jainhe ” from “Ganga Jamuna” is another example.
Instead of making a small budget Bollywood movie which had few takers, it often made sense to make Bhojpuri movie with the same budget. Out of work Bollywood artists were available to work for these movies and these movies had a sizeable captive audience.
A small dummy’s guide for Bhojpuri in in order here , I think. Instead of “Bahu”,it is “patohu”, instead of “bhabhi”, it is “bhauji” in Bhojpuri. if you get it, you are half way there in understanding Bhojpuri. And then take any common noun and add the suffix “wa” or “ya” as the case may be. Thus “bachcha” becomes “bachchwa” and “pardesi” becomes “pardesiya”. That more or less is it.
One of the most successful Bhojpuri movies was “Balam Pardesiya”(1979). Rakesh Pandey and Padma Khanna, small time actors in Bollywood, played the lead roles in this movie. other important actors in this were also Bollywood actors.
When it came to the music, the music was superhit in the Bihar-UP circuit. And the team who created this hit music reads no different from a typical Bollywood movie music team. Chitragupta was the music director and Anjaan was the lyricist. Songs were sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle and they perfectly understood the language that they were singing in.
This song “gorki patarki re” is a love song and it was extremely popular in its catchment area. It is sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle and picturised on Rakesh Pandey and Padma Khanna, two actors with Bihari roots. Padma
Khanna was a Punjabi based in Bihar and she looked the quintessential Biharan, and she in fact was regarded
as the Hema Malini of Bhojpuri movie those days.
So here is this hugely popular song from “balam pardesiya”.
Song-Gorki patarki re maare gulelwaa jiyaraa udi udi jaaye (Balam Pardesiya) (1979) Singers-Rafi, Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Anjaan, MD-Chitragupta

Please can you help to find a song-duet-but all lines are sung by female actress -the e male sings like a chorus
Ho Ho Ho and after a few lines by the female Ha Ha Ha ; etc
The middle of the song has these words
“dekhiye bapuji daye bhaye-then comes the male ho Ho Ho .
The scene is that the two are going in a Horse cart or rickshaw -or some kind of cart without the top.
I believe that the male chorus Ho Ho Ho ha Ha Ha etc is really sing by the MUSIC DIRECTOR or FILM Director himself and those are the lines he has ever sung. Please e-mail me a link if you can assist; Many thanks in advance.

Padma is one of those actresses who should have been more successful in “bollywood’ than she was…she must have been getting up there in age by 1979 🙂 Thanks for sharing this.
