I have mentioned in the past that Ganesh was an outstanding music director who unfortunately did not get his due from the Bollywood industry that he so richly deserved.
He gave music in just 16 movies in his career. Though his music was of a very high order throughout, these movies were mostly C grade movies which failed at the box office. These movies are extremely difficult to come by in most places in India.
I went to the biggest VCD shop in my city with the list of 16 movies and drew a blank. Then I went to a smaller shop nearby with the same list. The shopkeeper kept the list with him promising to find out about these movies. There I could get one of the movies in my list.
That one movie was ‘”Husn aur ishq” (1966). I went home and watched just the songs. And I was spell bound. All the six songs of this movie are outstanding.
I have posted four of this songs already in the blog. these songs are available on youtube. But the remaining two songs are not available.
I have uploaded one of these missing songs now. Here is this song. This is a lovely duet sung by Rafi and Suman Kalyanpur. It is picturised on Sanjeev Kumar and L Vijaylaxmi.
This song is a rain song. Going by the lyrics, it is the title song of the movie as well.
Asad Bhopali is the lyricist.
So here is another great Ganesh composition for the listening and watching pleasure of the readers of this blog.

I only watched the songs. I have yet to watch the movie. Now a days I do not have the patience to watch entire movies and so I only watch songs. How things have changed. In my younger days, I thought nothing of watching one movies after another in consecutive shows.

Did you like the film? I thought it was good, but not exciting enough to really write about…at least I haven’t gotten to it yet 🙂
