Tumse hi meri zindagi meri bahaar tum

Posted on: August 12, 2009

This song is from an obscure movie called “Apna Ghar” (1960). And the combination of people behind this song is a rare combination.

Ravi is the music director and Prem Dhawan is the lyricist, and that was a fairly common combination, but it is the others involved in this song that makes this song a rare song. For instance, this song is a duet sung by Mukesh and Geeta Dutt, and that is not a very common combination.

The actors on which this song is picturised is even more uncommon. The song is picturised on Premnath and Shyama. Yes, Premnath was still toying with herogiri those days. Shyama ofcourse is one on my favourite heroines of that era.

So, here is this nice duet song from “Apna Ghar” (1960).

Song-Tumse hi meri zindagi meri bahaar tum (Apna Ghar) (1960) Singers-Mukesh, Geeta Dutt, Lyrics-Prem Dhawan, MD-Ravi

Lyrics

tum se hi meri zindagi meri bahaar tum
tum se hi meri zindagi meri bahaar tum
apne hi dil se poochh lo kis kaa ho pyaar tum
tum se hi meri zindagi meri bahaar tum
tum se hi meri zindagi

gaati huyi hawaaon mein teraa hi geet hai
teraa hi geet hai
saajan mere nigaah mein teri hi preet hai
teri hi preet hai
chandaa kaa roop chaandni meraa shringaar tum
apne hi dil se poochh lo kis kaa ho pyaar tum
tum se hi meri zindagi

ye muskuraataa aasmaan ye jhoomti zameen
ye jhoomti zameen
mujhko zaraa sambhaalnaa kho jaaun na kahin
kho jaaun na kahin
aise mein apnaa kah bhi do bas ek baar tum
aise mein apnaa kah bhi do bas ek baar tum
apne hi dil se poochh lo kis kaa ho pyaar tum
tum se hi meri zindagi

aati hain aisi pyaar ki ghadiyaan naseeb se
ghadiyaan naseeb se
ye dil ki dhadkanen zaraa sun lo qareeb se
sun lo qareeb se
aaye ho leke pyaar ke sapne hazaar tum
aaye ho leke pyaar ke sapne hazaar tum
apne hi dil se poochh lo kis kaa ho pyaar tum
tum se hi meri zindagi meri bahaar tum
tum se hi meri zindagi

Very nice song. I have heard this one before, but I didn’t realize it was Geeta Dutt with Mukesh until I saw your write up. It was also interesting to note that Shyama has two plaits which were then left behind when the Saira Banu beehive became the trend. Premnath looks like he was on the way to losing the good looks he had in Barsaat, mainly because of his weight gain.

Thanks for the song, Atul.

Thanks for these interesting observations about Shyama’s hairstyle and Premnath’s changing appearances.
