When I had started this blog with the aim of posting old classic songs, I had assessed that if I posted about 2500 songs, I would have covered them all. How wrong I was ! I have already posted over 2000 songs, and I still continue to stumble upon “new” songs almost every day. And I still feel like I am only scratching the surface. I have yet to go deeper.
I had never heard of this movie called “Anjaan” (1956) and I was not awre of its songs either. Now I just found that this movie has some very nice songs in it.
In this song, Vyjyanti Mala is takng bath in a river and frolicking there and Pradeep Kumar looking for her, find her there. And what does a hero do in this ( or any other) situation ? He bursts int a song.
And it is such a lovely song to listen to. The song likens Vyjyantimala to the moon that is taking bath in the river and is causing the cold water to hot up. What lovely imaginative lyrics by Rajinder Krishan ! Hemant Kumar, the singer as well as the music director creates a lovely song out of this.
It is a gem of a song.

Atul, since I am on a slow dial-up connection atm, I am not listening to the song now. Will listen later but from the description of the scene this reminds me very much of “tere dwaar khada ek jogi”. Very similar settings, same actors (Pradeep Kumar, Vyjanthimala), same lyricist (Rajender Kishan), same singer (Hemant Kumar). Movie was Nagin – which was one of the biggest hits of the time. That came out in 1954 – so it looks like this song was inspired by that song.

Very nice song! What caught my eye was the fact that Vyjayantimala’s hairdo and flowers were totally undisturbed even though she was going back and forth in the water and enjoying it all! Pradeep Kumar also looks so slim in this.
