Hamsafar saath apna chhod chale

Posted on: March 29, 2010

I have posted a few songs from “Aakhri Daao” (1958) but this was one song that was not there. So here is this song.

This is a sad and poignant separation song, sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist and Madan Mohan composed the music.

song-Hamsafar saath apna chhod chale (Aakhri Daao) (1958) Singers-Asha Bhonsle, Rafi, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-Madan Mohan

aaa aaa
aaa aaa
aaa aaa
aaa aaa

hamsafar saath apnaa chhod chale
hamsafar saath apnaa chhod chale
rishte naate wo saare tod chale
hamsafar saath

hamsafar saath apnaa chhod chale
hamsafar saath

raastaa saaf thaa to chalte rahe
saath hanste rahe machalte rahe
mod aaya to munh ko mod chale
hamsafar saath

sapne toote pade hain raahon mein
sapne toote pade hain raahon mein
dard ki dhool hai nigaahon mein
dil pe qadmon ke naqsh chhod chale
hamsafar saath apna chhod chale
hamsafar saath

jab unhen hamse pyaar hi na rahaa
royen kyaa intazaar bhi na rahaa
ham bhi daaman ko ab nichod chale
hamsafar saath apna chhod chale
rishte naate wo saare tod chale
hamsafar saath

Really a fantastic song. Looking back at the long ear of Majrooh Sultanpuri, he has written numerous songs of high caliber and this is one of them. Madan Mohan and Mohamed Rafi are in seperable duo churning songs and ghazals to last us to eternity.

I am so glad I heard this song during the day rather than late in the evening! I wouldn’t have been able to sleep if I had heard it at night, after listening to the pain in their voices! This should be at the top of the list for “dard bhare geet”.

Thanks, Atul, for this beautiful song.

Beautiful song. Heart rendering.
