Akela hoon main iss duniyaa mein

on:I had mentioned in one of my earlier posts that I keep an excel sheet to keep track of all the songs posted, as well as all the farmaishes sent by readers. It appears that Sid, a longtime reader and farmaish sender of this blog also maintains an excel sheet to keep track of the farmaishes sent. 😀 Sid would often remind me of farmaishes sent long time back.
Here is one such long pending farmaish, whose reminder was also duly given to me.:) This is one song that I had never heard before.
It is a lovely song, and indeed this song belongs to several categories. This song, which is sung by Rafi and picturised on Dev Anand and others, is a bicycle song, which subsequently becomes a boat song as well.
This movie is “Baat Ek Raat Ki” (1962). Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist and S D Burman is the music director.
Here is this lovely song, which I myself heard for the first time only just now.

Song-Akela hoon main is duniyaa mein (Baat Ek Raat Ki) (1962) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-S D Burman
Lyrics
aahaa aahaa aahahaha
hahaha
ho ho ho
akelaa hoon main
is duniyaa mein
koyi saathi hai
to meraa saayaa
akelaa hoon main
is duniyaa mein
koyi saathi hai
to meraa saayaa
akelaa hoon main
na to parwaanaa
aur na deewaanaa,
main kisi mehfil kaa
sooni sooni raahen,
thaamti hain baahen
gham kise manzil kaa
na to parwaanaa
aur na deewaanaa,
main kisi mehfil kaa
sooni sooni raahen,
thaamti hain baahen
gham kise manzil kaa
main to hoon raahi dil kaa
hoy
saathi hai to meraa saayaa
akelaa hoon main
is duniyaa mein
koyi saathi hai
to meraa saayaa
akelaa hoon main
aaa aaa aaa aaa
jaise kabhi pyaare
jheel ke kinaare
hans akelaa nikle
waise hi dekhoji
ye man mauji
maujon ke seene pe chale
hoy
jaise kabhi pyaare
jheel ke kinaare
hans akelaa nikle
waise hi dekhoji
ye man mauji
maujon ke seene pe chale
chaand sitaaron ke tale
saathi hai to meraa saayaa
akelaa hoon main
is duniyaa mein
koyi saathi hai
to meraa saayaa
akelaa hoon main

Dev Anand has a whole lot of bicycle songs. My favorite Dev-on-bike song is “Mana janab ne pukara nahi”. Nice song–it did not make it to my Dev Anand playlist though. Dev has too many fab songs.

I cannot believe you never heard this before. I think it is very popular Dev/Rafi song.
And, I am not keeping Excel sheet of “farmaish”. Just happen to visit “na hum tumhe jaane” and saw the comments. And, thought of reminding you.
& thanks for posting 🙂

You hadn’t heard this song before? I am surprised, really! Just kidding, but this song was a big hit in its time. I was still a pre-teen, but I remember loving this song. In fact, I always thought this song was perfect for Dev Anand, without even knowing that the song was filmed on him. I think all Dev Anand movies had great songs in those days.
Now there are 3 surprised creatures in this blogworld!

This song used to be played in Chitrahaar very often. Those of you who belong to the Doordarshan-age like me is very likely to know it. 🙂

And another one is “Maanaa Janaab Ne Pukaaraa Nahin” from Paying Guest (1957), also already posted here at https://atulsongaday.wordpress.com/2008/11/24/maana-janaab-ne-pukaara-nahin/
Dev Anand is not riding the bike essentially, but pulling it along with him, as he tries to woo an annoyed Nutan. The more notable thing of course is the extra wide pajamas he is wearing – a formal dress of that time.
🙂
