Duniya jawaan hai dil mein armaan hai

Posted on: July 26, 2010

Here is a lovely “roadside tamasha” song that I stumbled upon recently. This song is from “Rail Ka Dibba” (1953) which was one of the earliest movies in which Shammi Kapoor acted. This song does not feature him though.

This song “Duniyaa jawaan hai dil mein armaan hai” is picturised on Cuckoo and Sajjan. The song is sung by Gandhari and Rafi. I was not aware of this female singer called Gandhari. Here voice certainly makes for a refreshing change from the usual voices.

Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist and Ghulam Mohammed is the music director.

This song is a lovely song to listen to. The song is a rare and obscure song these days, but it deserves to be better known among music lovers.

Lyrics

duniyaa jawaan hain
dil mein armaan hai
aise mein aa sanam
mil ja sanam
meri qasam
ye din bahaar ka hai
pyaar ka mausam
jab ye saamaan hai
dil kyun weeraan hai
jeene ke din balam
kaafi hain kam
aao na ham
ye din bahaar kaa hai
pyaar ka mausam
duniya shamshaan hai
Paisa bhagwaan hai
tangi mein har qadam
milta hai gham
ghutata hai dam
paisa ho paas to na rog hai na gham

BA ki degree khoti
tan pe nahin langoti
kapda hai aur na roti
kapda hai aur na roti
degree ko khaalo bhaiyya
polish karwaalo bhaiyaa
ho joote chamka lo bhaiyya
oonchi dukaan hai
feeka pakwaan hai
duniyaa mein aake ham
de de sitam
maare na dam
paisa ho paas to na rog hai na gham

ye jag hai gham ki basti
hai jismein faaka masti
jeewan se maut sasti
jeewan se maut sasti
kaale bazaar waale
daude hazaar saale
ho phir bhi hain bhole bhaale
soorat ki dhaar hai
dil mein shaitan hai
paise ke hain karam
kaisi sharam
kaisa dharam
paisa ho paas to na rog hai na gham
duniya shamshaan hai
paisa Bhagwaan hai
tangi mein har qadam
milta hai gham
ghutata hai dam
paisa ho paas to na rog hai na gham
