on:When it comes to songs of the golden era, I have certain observations. One of these observations is that every movie had several nice songs. Some of the songs went on to become popular but even those songs which failed to become popular are worth listening to. In many cases, they may even be as good as, if not better, than the more popular songs of that movie.
Now, when it comes to “Bandini” (1963), we all are familiar with the popular songs of this movie, viz. Mere saajan hain us paar sung by S D Burman, Mora gora ang lai le mohe shyaam rang dai de by Lata and O jaane waale ho sake to laut ke aana by Mukesh.
Here is another “Bandini” song sung by another singer. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. When I listened to this song, I sat up and took notice. I wondered how I was not aware of this song being from “Bandini” (1963) and I also wondered why this song is not among the popular songs from this movie.
Here is this superb song from this movie that is bound to bring cheer to the listeners. Shailendra is the lyricist and S D Burman composed the music.
This song is picturised on a lesser known actress who plays a prisoner in the movie. Can anyone identify her ? I am curious to know who she is.
This song a very sweet and heart warming song indeed.

The thing about a great sound track is some really good songs get eclipsed. This song has Shailendra + Dada Burman + Nutan + atmosphere. Dharam showing up in the beginning is icing. Very very nice.

The lady who lip syncs for the song is MRS.DOLLY KAPOOR,as identified in Sri Surjit Singhji`s photo gallary.
Bela bose also feautres in this song(as one of the lady who with a fat stick in hand,do the rice grain work) and at the end of the song the warden comes, who is CHANDRIMA BADHURI,(character artiste
Rita Badhuri`s real life mother)

Another one from Bandini in a similar setting is another favorite song of mine:
Abke baras bhej bhaiyya to babul…
A good song for this month when Raksha Bandhan is around the corner 🙂
