Shammi Kapoor was paired with Madhubala in his debut year (1953) itself in the movie “Rail Ka Dibba” (1953). Subsequently, he figured with her in a few more movies.

It was sometime in 1940s that the tradition of “piano” songs began, where the hero/ heroine would be asked to sit in front of a piano and sing a song in a get together, organised in the palatial residence of the hero/ heroine.

“Nadiyaa Ke Paar” (1982) was a quintessential Rajshri Productions movie. Like all Rajshri productions movies, this movie too was a low budget movie, made with less known actors, including newcomers. Like all other Rajshri productions movies, this movie too had outstanding music in it.

I had never heard this song. In fact, I was not aware of this movie either. Now that I have heard this song, and watched the picturisation, I wonder where this song was lying hidden all these days. What an absolute gem of a song !

Here is a rare song from an obscure movie called “Darogaji” (1949). This song is from an entirely different era over six decades ago. Those were the days when Geeta Dutt was still Geeta Roy, and Nargis had yet to become a very big name actress.
