Listening to well known popular songs is always a nice experience. Discovering songs unknown to us and listening to them is also a wonderful experience.
Here is a song that I heard for the first time just a few days ago, though it is from a movie that was released 35 years ago. At that time, I was neither aware of this movie nor of course this song.
This song is a lovely duet sung by Lata and Manna Dey. Jaan Nisaar Akhtar is the lyricist and Salil Chaudhary composed the music. Name of the movie is “Sangat” (1975). If you are like me, this name will ring no bells for you. Our knowledgeable readers may of course be better informed about this movie.
Listening to this song is a divine experience. It is the kind of song that one should listen to if one wants to calm one’s nerves. The song may not be well known, but the song is a priceless gem.
This song is special for this blog in another way. This is the 100th Salil Chaudhary composition in this blog. So far this blog have had 13 music directors with over 100 songs each. With this song, Salil Chaudhary joins that exclusive club of music directors with hundred songs of their own in this blog. Film SANGAT was directed by Basu Bhattacharya.The cast included – Rakesh Pande,Kajree,Satyen Kappu,Dina Pathak,Dulari,Omprakash etc.
This was an eminently misfired movie of Basuda.
