Saawan aayaa baadal aaye

Posted on: April 27, 2011

Most of the song farmaishes that I get are in the blog, but sometimes I also get farmaishes for songs in my email inbox. Yesterday I received an e mail from Jeetendra Mistry, who requested me to discuss a song called ” Saawan aayaa baadal aaya ” from “Jaan Haazir Hai” (1975). He mentioned that this song, which is picturised on Urmila Bhatt, is a rare song which he is unable to find.

I remember listening to this song in 1970s. I, if fact remember listening to another song from this movie even more. After this farmaish, I searched for this song and here is this song. Only the audio of this song is available and that is more than enough for music lovers, seeing that it is such nice song to listen to, and the fact that this song is indeed a rare song by now.

This song is sung by Dilraj Kaur. Shaily Shailendra (son of Shailendra) is the lyricist. Jai Kumar, whose full name was Jai Kumar Parte, is the music director.

This movie sank without a trace, and the songs from this movie, including this song, were reasonably popular before they were forgotten.

Here is this nice song from “Jaan Haazir Hai” (1975). It is like meeting with an ould acquiantance after 36 years. For those who had never heard this song before, it will be a wonderful song to get acqainted with.

Song-Saawan aayaa baadal aaye (Jaan Haazir Hai) (1975) Singer-Dilraj Kaur, Lyrics-Shaily Shailendra, MD-Jai Kumar Parte

Saawaan aaya baadal aaye
mere piyaa naahin aaye
chal doon wahaan
wo hain jahaan
ab to rahaa naahin jaaye
saawaan aaya baadal aaye
mere piyaa naahin aaye

sooni gali soonaa aangan
soona soona hai mera man
sooni raaten soone hain din
soona soona saara jeewan
kisase kahoon ye soonaapan
mose kahaa naahin jaaye
saawaan aaya baadal aaye
mere piyaa naahin aaye

khoyi khoyi aankhen meri
teri raahen dekhe har pal
bhola ye manmaane naahin
laute nahin wo beeta jo kal
nit din jaloon jaise diyaa
phir bhi bujhaa nahin jaaye
saawaan aaya baadal aaye
mere piyaa naahin aaye
mere piyaa…

Dilraj kaur`s voice reminds me her 2 other rare beautiful songs for O.p.nayyar’s: 1979:Heera moti:

a)Sau saal jeeyo tum jaan mere….teri man ki muraaden poori ho, khushiyon se daaman bhar jaaye

b)Hont hai tere do laal heere, kholna inko dheere dheere, dil bhar jaaniya….naram malai teri jaan hai, sajna zamaana beimaan hai(dilraj kaur & mohd.rafi`a punjabi song)

picturised on Shathrughna sinha and reena roy
lyrics:ahmed wasi
That film consists of more songs sung by Dilraj kaur I think
(Mauka mile to You know What I am hinting at….)
