Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Mera dil mujhe waapas kar do

Posted on: June 17, 2011

“Ambar” (1952) is a lesser known movie starring Raj Kapoor and Nargis. This movie apparently did not do well at the box office.

And I find that the music team of this movie was not the usual combination that one has come to associate with Raj Kapoor movies.

Here is a teasing song from “Ambar” (1952). Here Raj Kapoor is seen singing this song to Nargis who is passing by. The song is sung not by Mukesh but by Rafi. Yes, those were the days when Rafi would sing for Raj Kapoor, Talat Mehmood for Shammi Kapoor,Pradeep for no one in particular 🙂 etc etc.

Lyrics are written by Shakeel Badyuni and music is composed by Ghulam Mohammad. Normally associated with “serious” kind of songs, they have come up with this nice light hearted song.

It is a lovely song that deserves to be much better known among music lovers.

Song-Mera dil mujhe waapas kar do (Ambar) (1952) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Shakeel Badayuni, MD-Ghulam Mohammad

Lyrics

churaakar dil ko yoon
aankhen churaanaa kisase seekhaa hai
zaraa si baat par ye rooth jaanaa
kisase seekhaa hai

chale jaanaa tum door
bade shauq se huzoor
haay meraa dil mujhe waapas kar do
ho meraa dil mujhe waapas kar do
ho chale jaanaa tum door bade shauq se huzoor
haay meraa dil mujhe waapas kar do
meraa dil mujhe waapas kar do

ho ho ho
mere dil ko churaakar jaaoge to jaa nahin paaoge
mere dil ko churaakar jaaoge to jaa nahin paaoge
to jaa nahin paaoge
chori-chori gaye bhi to phir yahin aaoge
hoy chori-chori gaye bhi to phir yahin aaoge
dil deke judaayi mujhe nahin manzoor
haay meraa dil mujhe waapas kar do
ho meraa dil mujhe waapas kar do

hoy
chale jaanaa tum door
bade shauq se huzoor
haay meraa dil mujhe waapas kar do
meraa dil mujhe waapas kar do

ho ho ho
zaraa kah do ye tirchhi nazar se
ki hamko ye sataaye naa
zaraa kah do ye tirchhi nazar se ki hamko ye sataaye naa
ki hamko ye sataaye naa
main hoon koi gair to ye chhed mujhe bhaaye naa
ho main hoon koi gair to ye chhed mujhe bhaaye naa
maine preet lagaayi huaa mujhse qusoor
haay meraa dil mujhe waapas kar do
ho meraa dil mujhe waapas kar do
he
chale jaanaa tum door
bade shauq se huzoor
haay meraa dil mujhe waapas kar do
meraa dil mujhe waapas kar do
