Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Dil ki lagi ne hamko

Posted on: July 2, 2011

Old Hindi movies and their songs are much like old monuments in Indian towns that mostly lie unattended and neglected. These monuments (and movies) were once centres of public attention and now few people are even aware of their existence. The legacy left behind by them is quite rich but few people bother to dig them up, refurbish them and preserve them. And it is a pity.

“Paaras” (1949) is a forgotten movie like so many other old movies. It starred Rehman, Kamini Kaushal and Shyama Madhubala. Its songs have been forgotten like the movie. I have discussed three songs from this movie already. Here is another song.

This song is sung by Rafi and it is picturised on Rehman. This sad, melancholic song is written by Shakeel Badayuni. Ghulam Mohammad is the music director.

Song-Dil ki lagi ne hamko (Paaras) (1949) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Shakeel Badayuni, MD-Ghulam Mohammad

Lyrics

Dil ki lagi ne ham ko
dil ki lagi ne ham ko
deewaanaa kar ke chhodaa
deewaanaa kar ke chhodaa
duniyaa ki har khushi se
duniyaa ki har khushi se
begaanaa kar ke chhodaa
begaanaa kar ke chhodaa

taqdeer ban ke bigdi
armaan huye naa poorey
ho ho ho
taqdeer ban ke bigdi
armaan huye naa poorey
jo khwaab ham ne dekhe
sab rah gaye adhoorey
sab rah gaye adhoorey
dil ke chaman ko gham ne
dil ke chaman ko gham ne
veeraanaa kar ke chhodaa
veeraanaa kar ke chhodaa

royenge sunane waale
royenge sunane waale
sun-sun ke ye kahaani
sun-sun ke ye kahaani
royenge sunane waale
sun-sun ke ye kahaani
sun-sun ke ye kahaani
duniyaa ne do dilon ki
ik baat bhi naa maani
ik baat bhi naa maani
ulfat ki zindagi ko
ulfat ki zindagi ko
afsaanaa kar ke chhodaa
afsaanaa kar ke chhodaa
dil ki lagi ne ham ko
dil ki lagi ne ham ko
deewaanaa kar ke chhodaa
deewaanaa kar ke chhodaa
