Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Tum meri ho mere siwaa kisi ki nahin

Posted on: July 12, 2011

“Aan Baan” (1972) is one of the last movies of Rajendra Kumar as a hero. In this movie, he was paired with Rakhi, a heroine half his age. In any case, his days as Jubilee Kumar were behind him as by that time Rajesh Khanna had taken over as the new box office God by that time.

On the occasion of Rajendra Kumar’s death anniversary falling on 12th july, here is this forgotten song from this by and large forgotten movie. The song was a popular song of its time, but it was not popular enough to create much ripples in the Binaca geetmala programme. Neither this song, nor any other song from this movie made it to Binaca geetmala finals, or came into contention.

Prima facie, the lyrics of this song are quite average. Even I those days thought that the lyrics were quite ordinary and I did not rate this song much. Now, with time, this song has been forgotten and I find that music lovers of younger generation like this song. But then the standards of music in Hindi movies have plumbed considerably these days and compared to such songs, this song ndeed sounds better.

Here is this duet from “Aan Baan” (1972). It is sung by Rafi and Lata and it is picturised on Rajendra Kumar and Rakhi. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Song-Tum meri ho mere siwaa kisi ki nahin khaati ho qasam (Aan Baan) (1972) Singers-Rafi, Lata, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shankar Jaikishan

Lyrics

tum meri ho
mere siwaa
kisi ki nahin
khaati ho qasam
khaati hoon qasam
tum meri ho
mere siwaa
kisi ki nahin
khaati ho qasam
khaati hoon qasam
main teri hoon
tere siwaa
kisi ki nahin
khaati hoon qasam
khaati hoon qasam

iltizaa pyaar ki itni hai agar maano tum
iltizaa pyaar ki itni hai agar maano tum
waasta mera tumhe dil se lagaa lo mujhko
mad bhara aaj ka mausam bhi yehi kehta hai
ab to in reshmi zulfon mein chhupa lo mujhko
tum meri ho
mere siwaa
kisi ki nahin
khaati ho qasam
khaati hoon qasam
main teri hoon
tere siwaa
kisi ki nahin
khaati hoon qasam
khaati hoon qasam

ab judaa koi tumhe
mujhse na kar paayegaa
ab judaa koi tumhe
mujhse na kar paayegaa
aisa baandhaa hai tumhe pyaar ki in baanhon se
pyaar ki raah mein mit jaaungaa chaahat ki qasam
poochh lena ye kisi roz
inhin raahon se
tum meri ho
mere siwaa
kisi ki nahin
khaati ho qasam
khaati hoon qasam
main teri hoon
tere siwaa
kisi ki nahin
khaati hoon qasam
khaati hoon qasam

mere waade hain ye
paani ki lakeeren to nahin
mere waade hain ye
paani ki lakeeren to nahin
gairmumkin hai
mere dil ka fasaanaa badne
shaam ke doobte sooraj ki gawaahi le lo
main na badloongi sanam
chaahe zamaanaa badle
tum meri ho
mere siwaa
kisi ki nahin
khaati ho qasam
khaati hoon qasam
main teri hoon
tere siwaa
kisi ki nahin
khaati hoon qasam
khaati hoon qasam
tum meri ho
mere siwaa
kisi ki nahin
khaati ho qasam
khaati hoon qasam
khaati ho qasam
khaati hoon qasam
khaati ho qasam
khaati hoon qasam

Atulji,
I thought of sending the farmaish for this song, 2 or three months back, and the I thought ,as this song is not so popular, no one going to like the song, why should I just force my (obscure)favourites on others and just heard the song on youtube to myself and withdrew the work of sending farmaish.

Anyways I like the singing chemistry between Lataji and rafiji. This song is one of my favourite .

Thank you for posting this tuneful song.

I remember this one. Rather sweet and there’s Raakhee in it, that I didn’t know, nor the name of this film. Thanks.

@ Atul ji – thanks for the write up.
enjoyed the song once again after a gap of many years I think.
I vaguely remember this song, means I had heard this song may be when I was a child and may be it has been there in my memory because of the many Rajendra Kumar fans in our family and their listening then again and again on radio have make an impact on my impressionable mind then.

thanks,
