Zara tumne dekhaa to pyaar aa gayaa

Posted on: August 12, 2011

These days I have become interested in statistics regarding Rafi Lata duets. I have mentioned that Rafi and Lata figured in some 410 plus duets. Their very first duet was recorded in 1947 and it was for a movie called “Shaadi Se Pehle” (1947). It was followed by a one year hiatus and then they recorded as many as 17 duets in 1949.

Here is an extremely rare Rafi-Lata duet from 1949. This song is from “Jal Tarang” (1949). Kaif Irfani is the lyricist and Husnlal Bhagatram composed the music.

I became aware of this song only just now after the lyrics of this song were sent to me by nahm.

What a rare gem of a song it is !

Song-Zara tumne dekha to pyaar aa gayaa (Jal Tarang) (1949) Singers-Lata,Rafi, Lyrics-Kaif Irfani, MD-Husnlal Bhagatram
Lata + Rafi

Lyrics(Provided by nahm)

Zara tumne dekha
zara tumne dekha to pyaar aa gayaa
nigaahen milin aur qaraar aa gayaa
zara tumne dekha
zara tumne dekha to pyaar aa gayaa
nigaahein mili aur qaraar aa gayaa

mohabbat ki duniya mein jab tum na aaye
ho jab tum na aaye
mohabbat ki duniya mein jab tum na aaye
ho jab tum na aaye
tadap aa gayee intezaar aa gayaa
nigaahen milin aur qaraar aa gayaa
zara tumne dekha
zara tumne dekha to pyaar aa gayaa
nigaahen milin aur qaraar aa gayaa

ye dil kar diya hai tumhaare hawaaley
tumhaare hawaaley
ye dil kar diya hai tumhaare hawaaley
tumhaare hawaaley
kaho ab hamen aitbaar aa gayaa
nigaahen milin aur qaraar aa gayaa

zara tumne dekha
zara tumne dekha to pyaar aa gayaa
nigaahen milin aur qaraar aa gayaa

jawaani jo laayi
khushi ka zamaana
khushi ka zamaana
jawaani jo laayi
khushi ka zamaana
khushi ka zamaana
ummeedon pe kitna nikhaar aa gayaa
nigaahein mili aur qaraar aa gayaa
zara tumne dekha
Zara tumne dekha

to pyaar aa gayaa
nigaahen milin aur qaraar aa gayaa

Oh… memory recall for me. I had completely forgotten this song which I used to listen on Radio Ceylon in my younger days. Typical HB tune and orchestration.

Thanks for the post.
