Manzil teri khoj mein kitni sadiyaan ho gayeen

Posted on: December 6, 2011

“Pinjre Ke Panchhi” (1966) is a movie which is a Shobha Chitra Production. M C Ananthraj was the producer and this movie was directed by Salil Chaudhary. The star cast of this movie included names like Meena Kumari, Baljraj Sahni, Mehmood, Abhi Bhattacharya,Shaukat Azmi, Asit Sen, Keshto Mukherjee, Ifthekar, Harindranath Chattopadhyaya, Yunus Parwez, Poonam etc.

This movie is an obscure movie by now and the same can be said about its songs as well. The songs of course deserve to be much better known, seeing that they are composed by Salil Chaudhary and Salil Chaudhary compositions are always delightful to listen to.

Here is a song from this movie. It is sung by Lata. Shailendra is the lyricist.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

Song-Manzil teri khoj mein kitni sadiyaan ho gayin (Pinjre Ke Panchhi) (1966) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Shailendra, MD-Salil Chaudhary

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

manzil teri khoj mein
kitni sadiyaan ho gayeen
milke raahein kho gayeen
manzil teri khoj mein
kitni sadiyaan ho gayeen
milke raahein kho gayeen

mere jalte dil bataa
kaun tha dushman teraa
mere jalte dil bataa
kaun tha dushman teraa
aag ye kaise lagi
kyun ujdaa gulshan mera
manzil teri khoj mein
kitni sadiyaan ho gayeen
milke raahein kho gayeen

na koi saathi paas hai
na milne ki aas hai
na koi saathi paas hai
na milne ki aas hai
pyaasi aankhon ko meri
phir ye kiski talaash hai
manzil teri khoj mein
kitni sadiyaan ho gayeen
milke raahein kho gayeen
manzil teri khoj mein
kitni sadiyaan ho gayeen
milke raahein kho gayeen

Most of the time Salil da like to make Hindi version of Bengali music. The origin of this melody goes back to the Bengali classic song by Madhuri Chattopadhaya, ‘gun gun phaagun sesh hole… ‘
the other song very similar by Arati Mukherjee.’o amar joto sadh …’
Music of all songs by Salil da, of course…!!!
