Kho diye hain sanam teri talaash mein

Posted on: December 30, 2011

“Teri Talaash Mein” (1968) is by now an obscure movie. This B grade movie was an A G Movie arts production. Kewal Mishra was the director of the movie. Its “star” cast consisted of names like Kumkum, Shailesh Kumar, Mohan Choti, Madan Puri, Amaranth, K N Singh, Indira etc.

The movie, like all B grade movies, had A grade music. Here is the title/ theme music from this movie. This song should have created waves and should have become a timeless classic if only this song had belonged to a better movie than this one.

Prakashchandra, the sender of the lyrics of this song, believes that this song is Asha Bhonsle’s reply to her elder sister’s celebrated song “Kahin deep jale kahin din”. But alas ! This song failed to take off and today few people are even aware of this song.

Here is this fantastic composition. Naqsh Llayalpuri is the lyricist of this song and it is composed by Sapan Jagmohan.

Song-Kho diye hain sanam teri talaash mein (Teri Talaash Mein)(1968) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Naqsh Llayalpuri, MD-Sapan Jagmohan

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

aajaa re
aajaa re
aa jaa
aa jaaa
aa jaaa

kho diye,
hain sanam
teri talaash mein
pichhle kayee janam
kho diye,
hain sanam
teri talaash mein
pichhle kayee janam
aajaa re
aajaa re
aajaa
aajaa
aajaa

is dil ko dard kee
woh aag toone dee
sadiyon se ye chitaa
jalkar nahin bujhee
jalkar nahin bujhee
kho diye,
hain sanam
teri talaash mein
pichhle kayee janam
aajaa re
aajaa re
aajaa
aajaaa
aajaaa

aankhon se ashq-e-gham
sookhe nahin abhi
aajaa ke baant len
shiqwe giley sabhi
shiqwe giley sabhi
kho diye,
hain sanam
teri talaash mein
pichhle kayee janam
aajaa re
aajaa re
aajaa
aajaaa
aajaaa

tere liye milaa
ye aakhri janam
mumkin kahaan milen
phir iske baad hum
phir iske baad hum
kho diye,
hain sanam
teri talaash mein
pichhle kayee janam
aajaa re
aajaa re
aajaa
aajaaa
aajaaa

Prakashji,
We are luckier than Kum Kum – humko itane janam beetane nahin pade, yeh gaane ko dhoondhane me.:) Prakashji ne jo hamari madad kar dee. Thank you Prakashji. This is one of my favorite haunting song of Ashaji. Love her voice and the music of Sapanji.

Iss gaane ki starting lines kya hai, main har baar samajh nahin paataa tha, jab ye gaanaa vividhbharthi mein “once in a blumoon” bajthaa tha, Aakhirkaar bahut samay ke baad, bahut dhimaagi circus ke baad, mujhe ye pata chalaa ke starting lines of this song are “KHO DIYE HAIN SANAM”

But the song is my soulmate, It is again OUT OF THE WORLD experience, whenever raat ke sannate mein , ye gaanaa sunta hoon, I just freak out on this tune.

Thanks a lot,
Atulji,

Main bahut dinon se aapke peechhe thaa,
taaki aap iss gaane ko blog mein shaamil karein.

Whenever I have listened this song, I imagined her singing “mujhe mil…teri talaash mein.” But since you gave the correct word, now I can enjoy the song with the right meaning.

Prakashji,
mujhe nahin pata tha ki bhootwala gaana post karwane ke liye bhoot ki tarah Atulji ka pechha karna padta hai. 😆 Achha hai ke computer ke zareeye pechhe padna hoga warna Atulji to…………. 😆

Thank you Khyati ji
for the comments
Main hameshaa ye Haunting songs ko bahut pasand kartaa hoon aur bath room mein zor se gungunaathaa hoon bhi,
meri maa kehthi hai, pichchle janam mein main koi BHOOT yaa ROOH raha hoga. Main tho iss janam mein bhi apne ko koi bhatkathi aatmaa hi samjhthaa hoon.

Anyhow, aapke likhaavat se mujhe bahut positive energy milthi hai.

Thanks again for that.

regards
prakash

Atul ji,
TERI TALASH MEIN-1968 was a social/mystery drama.Directed by Kewal Mishra-who had experience of 10 failed B grade movies, the sweet music of Sapan-Jagmohan also could not save it from digging its own grave.
The hero was Sailesh-the same versatile, multifaceted actor, singer and Music Dirctor aka Shrikant gaurav of Pyar ki pyas and Miya biwi razi. The Heroine was Kumkum(actor Govinda’s Mausi). The story was-
At midnight 12 o’clock in 1963,a girl is murdered in a hotel, but the investigations lead nowhere.Cut.
At 12 o’clock midnight in 1964,a young man Ramesh meets a girl Rita. They become friends and have coffee. To protect her from cold,Ramesh gives his coat. She goes to toilet and disappears, never to return.Cut
Ramesh goes to the address she has given only to find out that Rita died an year ago.Cut.
Ramesh goes for an evening ride with his friend Neelima and he sees Rita. That night she appears in his room also. When he catches her,he finds it is a statue.Ramesh goes to the shop from where the statue is bought and he finds Rita who denies being Rita.Ramesh goes to Rita’s mother who takes him to her grave where he finds his coat.Cut CutCut….
After many twists, fights, chases stc,it is transpired that Rita is the sister of the girl who was murdered and is trying to get at the real culprit..blah.blah..blah.
Poor handling and trying to copy other films spoiled the entire show and thus what could have been an entertaining film ended in a damp suibb !

As I know from verious sources that Rafi saab love to sing peppy/comical songs, while Lata ji loved to sing thriller/supernatural/spooky type of songs 🙂
Regarding music duo Sapan Dagupta and Jagmohan Bakshi…
Jagmohan sing with Rafi (Hamlet) and with Asha (Taxi driver)…Sapan is a relative of Meera wife of SDB …

A frustrated cry lost in wilderness – beautifully depicted in this song. I was pining to hear this song since the 60s. Thank you Atul ji.
