Haan gunaah kiyaa hai huzoor maine

on:A man who is fully drunk and is going home at night singing a song justifying his state of intoxication is a scene that has been immortalised in Hindi movies by the song Zindagi khwaab hai (Jaagte Raho) . This song was sung by Mukesh and it was picturised on Motilal.
A situation like this brings smiles on the faces of onlookers as long as they are not the relatives of the drunkard man. I am one who can see the situation from the point of view of his long suffering wife and hapless kids and sympathise with them.
There is a song in “Dil Bhi Tera Ham Bhi Tere” (1960) which is picturised almost the same way as the “Jaagte Raho”(1956) song. This song too is sung by Mukesh. In this case, the song is picturised on an actor whom I am unable to identify. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the actor.
PS-It is Balraj Sahni. I thank readers to promptly identify him. I guess that his hat was preventing me from being able to identify him myself. 🙂
This song is written by Kanhaiya Lal Pardesi. Music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Atif M.

Lyrics(Provided by Atif M)
haan gunaah kiya hai huzoor maine
haan gunaah kiya hai huzoor maine
haan thhodi si pee hai zuroor maine
haan gunaah kiya hai huzoor maine
haan thhodi si pee hai zuroor maine
haan gunaah kiya hai huzoor maine
samajhti hai duniya sharaabi mujhe
samajhti hai duniya sharaabi mujhe
yeh kehti hai khaana kharaabi mujhe
yeh pehla kiya hai qusoor maine
haan gunaah kiya hai huzoor maine
haan thhodi si pee hai zuroor maine
haan gunaah kiya hai huzoor maine
main do jaam pee kar hi madhosh hoon
main do jaam pee kar hi madhosh hoon
magar yeh to peete hain insaan ka khoon
ajab in ka dekha suroor maine
haan gunaah kiya hai huzoor maine
haan thhodi si pee hai zuroor maine
haan gunaah kiya hai huzoor maine
yeh thodi si peena bala ho gaya
yeh thodi si peena bala ho gaya
zamaana bhi mujh se khafa ho gaya
yeh pehla kiya hai qusoor maine
haan gunaah kiya hai huzoor maine
haan thodi si pee hai zuroor maine
haan gunaah kiya hai huzoor maine
haan thodi si pee hai zuroor maine
haan gunaah kiya hai huzoor maine
haan gunaah kiya hai huzoor maine

It is none other than Balraj Sahani, who also sang a drunkards song in Naya rasta 1970 – Maine pi sharaab tumne kyaa piyaa

Apart from the Jagte Raho song, this also reminds me of Mujhko Yaaro Muaaf Karna from RK starrer Main Nashe Mein Hoon (1959). This one is sung by Mukesh too. Similarly, another RK-Mukesh song Yaad Aayi Aadhi Raat Ko Kal Raat Ki Tauba from Kanhaiya (1959) can be put in the same bracket.

I remember this song as Kya Bura Kiya Hai Huzoor Maine rather than Haan Gunaah….
Kya Bura …. is how it used to be on one of my Mukesh cassettes. Presumably the soundtrack/audio version and the cinematic/video version were slightly different from each other. Even the mp3 of this song which I downloaded recently goes Kya Bura Kiya Hai.
Only in the film version, we hear Haan Gunaah Kiya Hai. I was hoping some reader would go on to notice this.

Atif ji,
You are right about this variation. In the audio of this song that I have in my collection also, the leading line is “Kyaa Buraa Kiyaa Hai Huzoor Mein Ne”. I will try to check the original 78 rpm record and find out the version in that recording.
However, with due respects, Atif ji, I would like to point out that in the lyrics provided above, there is a consistent error in the leading line. In the version posted with this write up, the leading line is “Haan Buraa Kiyaa Hai Huzoor Mein Ne”, and not “Haan Gunaah Kiyaa Hai Huzoor Mein Ne”. This correction needs to be applied to all occurences of this line in the lyrics provided above. And so also the title of the post also needs to be corrected.
I will try to post the other version also, shortly.
