Neeli saadi sunahra jumper

Posted on: February 14, 2012

Today (14th february), otherwise known as Valentine’s day, is also the birthday of Jaan Nisaar Akhtar. Jaan Nisaar Akhtar’s name suggests that he may be a shayar who mostly wrote songs on the themes of husn o ishq.

Jaan Nisaar Akhtar could in fact write light hearted songs as well. Here is a fun timepass song from “Rickshawaala” (1960). This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Geeta Dutt. N Datta is the music director.

From the tune of the song, it is obvious that the song is a take on the well known song Gayaa andheraa huaa ujaaraa (Subah Kaa Taaraa)

Only the audio of this song is available so it is difficult to guess how and on whom this song is picturised. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on the picturisation of this song.

Song-Neeli saadi sunahra jumper (Rickshawaala (1960) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Geeta Dutt, Lyrics-Jaan Nisaar Akhtar, MD-N Datta

Lyrics

haay haay
neeli saadi
haay
neeli saadi sunahra jumper
kaise kaise sitam karo ham par
ho
aisi nazren na
aisi nazren na phenko hampar
ban na jaaye hamaare dumper
ho
aisi nazren na

dard hota hai dekho jigar mein
mar mitey ham to pehli nazar mein
haay
mar mitey ham to pehli nazar mein
itna aasaan nahin dil lagaana kahin
itna aasaan nahin dil lagaana kahin
gham uthhane hi padte hain ham par

haay
neeli saadi haay
neeli saadi sunahra jumper
kaise kaise sitam karo ham par
haay
aisi nazren na
aisi nazren na phenko hampar
ban na jaaye hamaare dumper
ho
aisi nazren na

dil ki yoon to zaroorat bahut hai
ho
par suna hai ke keemat bahut hai
ho
par suna hai ke keemat bahut hai

ek nazar ek ada
aur keemat hai kyaa
ek nazar ek ada
aur keemat hai kyaa
tumne maanga to de denge kam par
haay
aisi nazren na
aisi nazren na phenko hampar
ban na jaaye hamaare dumper
ho

neeli saadi haay
neeli saadi sunahra jumper
kaise kaise sitam karo ham par
ho
neeli saadi

yoon bahaane banaao na ham se
ho chuke ham tumhaare qasam se
ho chuke ham tumhaare qasam se
dil ka saara pata
aankh deti bata
dil ka saara pata
aankh deti bata
kyaa yaqeen ho tumhaare qasam par

haay
neeli saadi
hoy
neeli saadi sunahra jumper
kaise kaise sitam karo ham par
haay
aisi nazren na
aisi nazren na phenko hampar
ban na jaaye hamaare dumper
haay

Atul ji,
RIKSHAWALA-1960 was a film featuring Johnny Walker.
1960 was a period when johnny walker was on the peak of his career.Practically every film featuring him was becoming a hit.But when Johnny Walker was a Hero, very few of his films clicked, still many producers ran after him.RIKSHAWALA was an eminently forgettable film of Johnny Walker. It ran hardly for a month in the theatres. One reason was that the story was very weak and secondly the role did not suit him at all.
It was a story featuring Birju(Johnny Walker) a hard working honest to the core Rikshawala, who loved Roopa,
Roopa(Anita Guha) a one leg paralytic poor girl (it was almost impossible to accept Anita Guha in this role as she could not look poor at all, despite the best efforts of the Make up man),
Laxmidas(Radha kishen) a miser money lender,Riksha owner who charged high interets,
Gopinath-a retired school teacher and father of Roopa and Bansi-a vagabond young man doing nothing and Paro-the widowed daughter and
Cheekoowali-a fruitseller who loves Bansi.
The story details how these people try to live a happy life despite sorrows, misery and lack of money.
Then one day the entire picture changes as Birju strikes a lottery prize and the true colours of people are exposed.
There are as many as 7 songs in this film,3 of which are compulsorily funny,as Johnny walker was in the film. The songs were also not very catchy.N.Dutta gave the music and Ramakant was his assistant.
It was a Kala Darpan film, produced and directed by Shankar mehta.
The cast was Johnny walker,Anita Guha,Radhakishen,Kuldip kaur,Minu mumtaz,Sadhana,Bela,Sheela and many others.

Thank you Arun ji,
I do not remember this film. Most like never come to my town.
My town had four ttheaters, during early 50’s to late 60’s.
OH, well… the word “saadi” not as Shaadi…but saadi as a sari 🙂
Anita Guaha, with impressive, up lifting rediant face for the role of poor girl? what a reality versus delusion!
My opinion role should have given to Vijaya Choudhary or to Tanuja.
