Kuchh tumhe aur bhi aata hai sataane ke siwaa

This article is written by Sudhir, a fellow enthusiast of Hindi movie music and a regular contributor to this blog.

Do not know if the director was running out of ideas, but this song appears to be a duplicate in some ways. The film is Baadhsah from 1964. Two songs from this film are already posted. With reference to the song “Ae Jee Mein Ne Kahaa Suniye To Zaraa” – when I compare these two songs, they seem to be very similar in intent and also in terms of the players on whom this is picturized. The earlier posted song is also performed on screen by this actress, Kumari Rani, trying to stop and annoyed looking Dara Singh from leaving her company. The scenario is repeated in this song also. Once again, the song is performed by Kumari Rani. Dara Singh is playing the offended gentleman, and the lady love is trying to stop him from leaving. In this case, the one additional characteristic stands out – apparently the lady knows some kind of magic, for she disappears and reappears a few times during the performance of this song.

(NOTE: In the previous post I had stated that I am guessing the name of this actress as Kumari Rani, and requested other readers for confirmation or correction. Since no comments were added to that song on this identification, I continue with the guess about this actress.)

‘Baadshah’ is produced under the banner of Navkala Niketan, and is directed by Chandrakant Gaur. The lyrics are written by Anand Bakshi, and the music is created by N Dutta. The film is a stunt costume drama with the cast of actors including Dara Singh, Nishi, Kumari Rani, Tiwari, Rajan Haksar, Kehsav Rana, Radheyshyam, Kumud Tripathi, Uma Khosla, Mumtaz Begum, Rafique Sultana, Shiela Devi, Shamina, Kesari etc. As with the song referred from earlier post, this song is also sung by Asha Bhosle.

The music is just lovely, and once again the naughtiness expressed in the voice of Asha ji is just perfect for the situation. And I would still stand by observation from the earlier post regarding “poor men folk”. 🙂

Enjoy this lilting melody, another one from the repertoire of N Dutta.

Song-Kuchh tumhe aur bhi aataa hai sataane ke siwa (Baadshah)(1964) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-N Datta

Lyrics

kuchh tumhen aur bhi aataa hai
sataane ke siwaa
kuchh tumhen aur bhi aataa hai
sataane ke siwaa
sab hai manzoor hamen
sab hai manzoor hamen
aapke jaane ke siwaa
kuchh tumhen aur bhi aataa hai
sataane ke siwaa

lab pe ye baat na lillaah
kabhi aane do
lab pe ye baat na lillaah
kabhi aane do
main chalaa jaaungaa
jaanaa hai
mujhe jaane do
ye bhalaa aur hai kyaa
ye bhalaa aur hai kyaa
ek bahaane ke siwaa
kuchh tumhen aur bhi aataa hai
sataane ke siwaa
sab hai manzoor hamen
sab hai manzoor hamen
aapke jaane ke siwaa
kuchh tumhen aur bhi aataa hai
sataane ke siwaa

tum ne rangeen bahaaron ka
bahut name liyaa
tum ne rangeen bahaaron ka
bahut name liyaa
tum ne in chaand sitaaron ka
bahut name liyaa
tum ne har baat kahee
tum ne har baat kahee
dil ke fasaane ke siwaa
kuchh tumhen aur bhi aataa hai
sataane ke siwaa
sab hai manzoor hamen
sab hai manzoor hamen
aapke jaane ke siwaa
kuchh tumhen aur bhi aataa hai
sataane ke siwaa

ye ghanee zulf ke zulfon pe
ho ilzaam-e-junoon
ye ghanee zulf ke zulfon pe
ho ilzaam-e-junoon
ye hansi honthh ke honthhon pe
rahe naam-e-junoon
bas kamee aur hai kya
bas kamee aur hai kya
ek deewaane ke siwaa
kuchh tumhen aur bhi aataa hai
sataane ke siwaa
sab hai manzoor hamen
sab hai manzoor hamen
aapke jaane ke siwaa
kuchh tumhen aur bhi aataa hai
sataane ke siwaa

I don`t know about “Kumari”,
But she is RAANI, who featured in dances sequences of Dil diya dard liya(in 2 mujra songs-one song must be “Rasiya tu bada bedardi”),
Phir wohi dil laayaa hoon(with asha parekh-“Dekho bijli dole bin baadal ke”),
Jaanwar(shammikapoor`s-in a mujra sequence)
etc.

Thanks for the confirmation. The word ‘Kumari’ comes from the Geet Kosh list of actors, wherein her name is listed as Kumari Rani.

Thanks again,

Prakash ji,

This set of 5 volumes is only sold directly by the compiler and publisher, Shri Harmandir Singh ‘Hamraaz’. He lives in Kanpur. The best way to connect with him is through his web site, http://www.hamraaz.org. These are not available through any other channels.

These volumes are the definitive catalog of Hindi Film Music, and it is really a stupendous and a monumental piece of work spread over more than two decades. The Geet Kosh currently covers all films from 1931 to 1980, 5 volumes, one for each decade. I purchased this many years ago, and I refer to them everyday.
