“Bahu Begam” (1967) was a movie which was produced and directed by M Sadiq. Starcast of the movie included names like Ashok Kumar, Pradeep Kumar, Meena Kumari, Sapru, Naaz, Leela Misra, Helen, Johnny Walker, Lalita Pawar, Zeb Rehman, etc.
This movie, like most movies of the golden era was full of glittering musical gems whose sparkle has not dimmed evenb to this date. I have discussed as many as six songs from this movie. It comes as no surprise to me to realise that a few great songs from this movie still remain undiscussed.
Here is one of the still remaining songs from “Bahu Begam” (1967). This delightful song is sung by Lata, Asha Bhonsle and chorus. Sahir Ludhianvi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Roshan.
I vaguely recall having heard this song in the past, but I have given this song a serious hearing for the first time only just now and I quite loved listening to this song.

Bahu Begum was produced by Jaan Nisar Akhtar. And he wrote the lyrics but for reasons of saleability Sahir’s name was used. But the film bombed at the box-office making Jaan Nisar Akhtar a debt ridden man till he died.
