Pathh bhhoola ek aaya musaafir

on:Though Kishore Kumar is known for being a fun loving individual, he tended to make serious movies as a producer (with the exception a few movies e.g. “Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi”). “Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein” (1964) was a serious movie which was a labour of love for Kishore Kumar. Serious labours of love like this movie did not have too many takers among movie goer those days and such movies tended to flop at the box office. This movie too failed at the box office.
Music of the movie though could not be denied its due. The songs of this movie have become more popular with time.
I have discussed as many as four songs from this movie. Here is another song from this movie. This “lesser known” song from the movie is sung by Asha Bhonsle. The song is written by Shailendra and the music is composed by Kishore Kumar.
The song was picturised on Supriya Chaudhary.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt.

Song-Path bhoolaa ek aaya musaafir (Door Gagan Ki Chhaaon Mein (1964) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Shailendra, MD-Kishore Kumar
Lyrics(Provided by Khyati Bhatt)
path bhoolaa
ek aaya musaafir
leke mera man door chalaa
bikhre sapne
reh gayin yaadein
raat se pehle chaand dhala
path bhoolaa
koi na samjhe
koi na jaane
dil ki lagi hai kya
laakh chhupaaon
chhup na sake ye
prem ka rog buraa aa aa
path bhoolaa
ek aaya musaafir
leke mera man door chalaa
path bhoolaa
dil kehta hai rok le usko
us bin kaun tera
lekin kiski doon main duhaai
kya adhikaar mera aa aa
path bhoolaa ek aaya musaafir
leke mera man door chalaa
bikhre sapne
reh gayi yaadein
raat se pahle

This song was popular as much as other from this film. You have to remember…during 1964, Sangam, Leader, Kohra, April fool, Dosti, geet gaya..and so many other movies with very good MD and songs.
But Kishore Da did par excellence with his tough competitors.
I remember…I wanted to hear how Ashaji imitate cry in song, so I used to put my ears on radio speaker.
Well, those were the days.
BTW, this one is Ashaji favorite too 🙂
