Kaun rokega ab pyaar ka raastaa

Posted on: June 25, 2012

“Ek Kali Muskaayi” (1968) was a Panchdeep Chitra Production. It was produced and directed by Vasant Joglekar. The starcast had Ashok Kumar, Meera Joglekar, Joy Mukherjee,Mehmood, Om prakash, Nirupa Roy, Lalita Pawaar, Mallika, Neelam, Nana Palsikar, Sunder etc in it.

It was no coincidence if the surname of the leading lady was the same as that of the producer and director. She was the daughter of Vasant Joglekar and this movie was made to launch Meera Joglekar.

Kishore Sahu’s movie called “Hare Kaanch Ki Choodiyaan” (1967) failed to launch the career of his daughter Naina Sahu. Similar was the case with “Ek Kali Muskaayi” (1968) too.

The music of the movie was nice but that could not help the cause of the movie.

Here is a lovely joie de vivre song from “Ek Kali Muskaayi”(1968). The song is sung by Lata and the song was picturised on Meera Joglekar.

Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Madan Mohan.

On the occasion of Madan Mohan’s birt anniversary (25 june), here is this nice song from “Ek Kali Muskaayi” (1968).

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

Song-Kaun rokega ab pyaar ka raasta (Ek Kali Muskaayi)(1968) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-Madan Madan

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

kaun rokega
ab pyaar kaa raastaa
main to pee ki nagariyaa jaane lagi
main to pee ki nagariyaa jaane lagi
aaj baithe bitaaye ye kyaa ho gayaa
dil ki har baat aankhon mein aane lagi
dil ki har baat aankhon mein aane lagi
main to pee ki nagariyaa jaane lagi

aa gaye
aa gaye
muskuraane ke din
aa gaye
aa gaye
muskuraane ke din
ladkhadaane ke din
gungunaane ke din
ladkhadaane ke din
gungunaane ke din
maine paayal to
paaon mein baandhi nahin
aur aawaaz
aur aawaaz
ghunghroo ki aane lagi
aur aawaaz
ghunghroo ki aane lagi
main to pee ki nagariyaa jaane lagi

koyee raahon mein
kaliyaan bichhaane lagaa
koyee raahon mein
kaliyaan bichhaane lagaa
aur ishaaron se
mujhko bulaane lagaa
aur ishaaron se
mujhko bulaane lagaa
maine darpan abhi tak to dekhaa nahin
meri bindiyaa magar jhilmilaane lagi
meri bindiyaa magar jhilmilaane lagi
main to pee ki nagariyaa jaane lagi

aaj kaisi chali
bheegi bheegi pawan
aaj kaisi chali
bheegi bheegi pawan
lehlehaane lagaa
meraa nazuk badan
lehlahaane lagaa
meraa naazuk badan
maine palkein
abhi tak jhukaayee nahin
neend kyun meri
aankhon mein aane lagi
neend kyon meri
aankhon mein aane lagi
main to pee ki nagariyaa jaane lagi
kaun rokega
ab pyaar ka raastaa
main to pee ki nagariyaa jaane lagi
main to pee ki nagariyaa jaane lagi
main to pee ki nagariyaa jaane lagi

Atul ji, while there’s no law against launching one’s own ladla-beta or ladali beti in movies, their fathers—or mothers— very often don’t seem to have the foggiest idea about their children’s acting abilities!
Paternal pride fogged Kishore Sahu’s judgement when he launched his ladli beti Naina Sahu with a lot of fanfare in ‘Hare Kaanch Ki Chudiyan’. Vasant Joglekar, not to be outdone, launched his daughter with equal, if not bigger fanfare in ‘Ek Kali Muskayee’.
Their fates as that of their debut movies are identical! They disappeared without a trace! Watch this video and let me know if Meera looks like a schoolgirl! Yes! She played an innocent schoolgirl! Adult education?!
Shanker Jaikishen and Madan Mohan wasted their talents in the two movies!
Suffice it to say that Biswajeet (Hare Kaanch ki Choodiyan) and Joy Mukherji (Ek Kali Muskayee) appeared to almost explode with talent compared to their stupid heroines…….

Prakashji,
Don’t know how I missed this post. Love this one, Lata-Madan duo. Sitar is played beautifully between stanzas. Miss this MD and his melody.
