Tere chehre mein hai jo baat kisi aur mein nahin

Posted on: June 26, 2012

“Chhote Sarkar”(1974) is quite an obscure movie by now, which is a surprise seeing that this movie had Shammi Kapoor and Sadhana in lead roles.

The fact that the movie was released in 1974, by which time both Shammi Kapoor and Sadhana were past their prime as lead actors, may be the reason for the obscurity of this movie. The movie was obviously planned to be released in 1960s, but the movie could not be released for various reasons. By the time it finally saw the light of the day in 1974, it was too late. The taste of the movie goers had changed drastically in the interim period. As a result, this movie sank almost without a trace.

This movie was produced by Boney Talwar and directed by K Shankar. The starcast had Shammi Kapoor, Sadhana,Sunder, Helen, Shashikala, Asit Sen, Jagdish Raaj etc in it.

Here is a song from “Chhote Sarkar”(1974). Reading the lyrics of the song did not ring any bells, but when the song began to play, it began to ring at a high volume. Yes, I had heard this song before. And I was hearing this song again after nearly four decades !

This wonderful song is sung by Rafi whose voice sounds at its most divine. The song is picturised on Shammi Kapoor and Sadhana.

Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Song-Tere chehre mein hai jo baat kisi aur mein nahin (Chhote Sarkar)(1974) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-Shankar Jaikishan

Lyrics(Provided by nahm)

tere chehre mein hai jo baat
kisi aur mein nahin
tere chehre mein hai jo baat
kisi aur mein nahin
aisa jalwaa na koyi hai
na huaa na hogaa
ho tere chehre mein hai jo baat
kisi aur mein nahin
aisa jalwaa na koyi hai
na huaa na hogaa
haay
tere chehre mein hai jo baat
kisi aur mein nahin

apne uljhe huye baalon
ko sanwar jaane de
phool se apne yeh rukhsaar
nikhar jaane de
apne uljhe huye baalon
ko sanwar jaane de
phool se apne yeh rukhsaar
nikhar jaane de
saadgi hoti hai rukhsat
to use hone de
jism par rang jo bikhre
to bikhar jaane de
ke tere chehre mein hai jo baat
kisi aur mein nahin

ab teri chaal ko toofaan
utthaane honge
jitne soye huye fitne hain
jagaane honge
ab teri chaal ko toofan
utthaane honge
jitne soye huye fitne hain
jagaane honge
apni aankhon ko ishaaron
ki ijaazat de kar
un ishaaron se kayi
rang jamaane honge
tere chehre mein hai jo baat
kisi aur mein nahin

yeh banaawat ka zamaana
hai banaawat maange
chaahe jhoothi hi sahi
phir bhi sajaawat maange
yeh banaawat ka zamaana
hai banaawat maange
chaahe jhoothi hi sahi
phir bhi sajaawat maange
dil magar mera tere pyaar ka
deewaana hai
tere qadmon ki faqat
halki si aahat maange
ho tere chehre mein hai jo baat
kisi aur mein nahin
aisa jalwaa na koyi hai
na huaa na hogaa
ho tere chehre mein hai jo baat
kisi aur mein nahin

I’ve seen this movie. Shammi has a double role – and one of them is the villain!!! And what a really nasty, mean villain he is!!!

Like you say, clearly the movie got delayed in release. Could have been because of Sadhana – remember how Amanat got delayed?

I quite like this song. I remember this movie also having a Helen dance (Sharda sings the song). I think it was somewhat popular in its time.
