Aa jaa jaan e jaan

Posted on: July 4, 2012

“Geet Gaaya Pattharon Ne” (1964) was produced and directed by V Shantaram. This movie introduced Rajshree (daughter of V Shantaram) alongwith Jeetendra. The movie also had Surendra Bharati, Nana Palsikar, K. Date, C. H. Atma, Babloo etc in it.

Today (4 july) is the death anniversary of Ramlal, the music director of this movie. Ramlal had the misfortune of working as a music director in just two movies which were released. One was “Sehra” (1963) and another was “Geeta Gaaya Pattharon Ne” 91964). Despite composing sterling music in both these movies, Ramlal was unable to get more assignments as a music director.

Here is a song from “Geet Gaaya Pattharon Ne” (1964). The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. It is picturised on Rajshree, playing the mother of an infant. The picturisation shows her being forced to perform a mujra much against her willingness even when her baby is crying for her.

This song is written by Hasrat Jaipuri. The picturisation also shows a few others, but it is only Jeetendra whom I can identify. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the other actors in the picturisation.

Song-Aa ja jaan e jaan (Geet Gaaya Pattharon Ne)(1964) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Ramlal

aa jaa
re ae ae
jaan e jaan
aa jaa
jaan e jaan
mere meharbaan
aa aa aa
aa jaa jaan e jaan
nainon ka kajra bulaaye
dil ka ye anchra bulaaye
baahon ka gajra bulaaye
aa jaa
jaan e jaan
mere meharbaan aa aa
aa jaa jaan e jaan

jab se gaya tu ghar se
meri muhabbat tarse
palkon se saawan barse
chanda na guzre idhar se
har saans dil ko dukhaaye
zakhmon mein aansoo bahaaye
aa jaa
jaan e jaan
mere meharbaan aa aa aa
aa jaa jaan e jaan

ghunghroo mein naghma tumhaara
saanson mein jalwa tumhaara
phoolon mein mukhdaa tumhaara
phoolon mein mukhda tumhaara
taaron mein
taaron mein
taaron mein hansna tumhaara
meri nazar lalchaaye
honthon pe nikli haaye
aa jaa
jaan e jaan
mere meharbaan aa aa aa
aa jaa jaan e jaan
nainon ka kajra bulaaye
baahon ka gajra bulaaye
aa jaa
jaan e jaan

Sunder Krishna Urs Music By RamLal sehra(The title of this movie created a big public furore from the people of “Domba”

A gentelman that holding a baby in later part of the song.
I have seen him in several films mostly playing villian…..who is he?

If any time during my college years if we ever have talked about this film…it was this dance.
She flutters like large butterflies 🙂
Her shaky knees, trembling lips, fast pulse…
than adding into vibrato and tremolo music…
it just out of this world.
