Song-Bulbul mere chaman ke(Heer)(1956) Singer-Geeta Dutt, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-Anil Biswas
Lyrics(Provided by Nitin Shah)
bulbul mere chaman ke
taqdeer meri bann ke
jaago meri tamanna
jaago
bulbul mere chaman ke,
taqdeer meri bann ke
jaago meri tamanna
jaago
dekho meri nazar mein
hasrat machal rahi hai
parwaana so raha hai
aur shamma jal rahi hai
dekho meri nazar mein
hasrat machal rahi hai
parwaana so raha hai
aur shamma jal rahi hai
kehti hai beqraari
yeh raate hai hamaari
kehti hai beqraari
yeh raate hai hamaari
jaago meri tamanna
jaago
jaago
bulbul mere chaman ke
taqdeer meri bann ke
jaago meri tamanna
jaago
neele gagan pe chanda
ruk jaaye chalte chalte
jaago to thahar jaaye
yeh raat dhalte dhalte
neele gagan pe chanda
ruk jaaye chalte chalte
jaago to thahar jaaye
yeh raat dhalte dhalte
aaye na phir savera
tum saath do jo mera
aaye na phir savera
tum saath do jo mera
jaago meri tamanna
jaago jaago
bulbul mere chaman ke
taqdeer meri bann ke
jaago meri tamanna
jaago

I was going through the songs posted in the last week. Main sooraj hoon tu meri kiran from Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiya Posted by: Atulji on: July 15, 2012
I was flooded with the memories of my halcyon days.
During our Pune Engineering College Hostel days I gained lot of money(pocket money for chaai paani) from my colleagues who were not proficient in Hindi film knowledge as I was. They used to lose many bets concerning songs. One such song was the title song of Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiya which further goes like ….barqa si leharaayi hain. My friends used to sing barf si leharaaye hain. Then we used to check from the song booklet(Re 0.50).
Another song from film Bhai Bahen by Sudh Malhotra ‘mere nadeem mere humsafar’ they used to sing …mere naseeb mere hamsafar… Then there were typical tantalizing spellings like vacuum, accommodation etc were again I used to score over them. After some time word went around that it was dangerous to lay bets with Nitin. So they shunned me and started laying bets amongst themselves. However they had to come to me to decide the winner(pertaining to hindi songs). I used to extract 50% from the winner, which was mutually agreed.
Another modus operandi I used to employ: For this I had to take help of another friend. The moment we saw a friend(bakra) approaching us we would turn our conversation to ’dekh na yeh vacuum ka spelling v a c u u m bol raha hain’. He would say ‘ spelling to v a c c u m hain’ Then I would corroborate with him to boost his confidence ’main bhi to wohi kahe raha hu’. This would embolden him(and myself) to lay bet with my friend. Naturally he would lose. Whatever my friend earned, 50% was given to me. Yep those were the salad days. Pure fun
