Ruk ruk ruk kahaan chali deewaani

Posted on: July 20, 2012

If Akshay Kumar movies of 1990s tended to have the word “Khilaadi” in them , then Sheikh Mukhtaar’s movies of 1950s and 1960s used to have the title “Ustaad” in them.

“Do Ustaad” (1959) was a movie produced under the banner of Sheikh Mukhtaar. It was produced by Sheikh Mukhtar and directed by Tara Harish. The movie had Raj Kapoor, Madhubala, Sheikh Mukhtar, Daisy Irani, Umadutt, Sulochana, Bimla Kumari, Kamal Mohan, Satish Vyas, Master Daboo, C. B. Singh, T. N. Charlie, Sood, Fazal karim, Khan, Narula, Jerry, Ratan Gourang, Dayal Kumar, Shangloo, Ramlal, Prem Sagar, Funny Tincher, Soofi, Sadiq, Mastan Shah etc in it.

It was perhaps the only time in this movie that Sheikh Mukhtar signed up A grade actors like Raj Kapoor and Madhubala and also an A grade music director, viz O P Nayyar.

Here is a duet from this movie. It is sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle. Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist. The lyrics are similar to many O P Nayyar compositions that were picturised on Johny Walker. But here the song is picturised on Raj Kapoor and Madhubala.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Atif M.

Song-Ruk ruk ruk kahaan chali deewaani (Do Ustaad)(1959) Singers-Rafi, Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Qamar Jalalabadi, MD-O P Nayyar

Lyrics(Atif M)

ruk ruk ruk
kahaan chali deewaani
koyi roke
okay
waada kar ab na karega hum se
tu dhokhe

okay
ruk ruk ruk
kahaan chali deewaani
koyi roke
okay

baahar se tu kare raeesi
andar se shri chaar sau beesi
baahar se tu kare raeesi
andar se shri chaar sau beesi
hum to nahin hain aise waise
aana ji moonh dho ke

okay
waada kar ab na karega hum se
tu dhokhe

okay

tera nakhra baanka baanka
toot gaya mere dil ka taanka
tera nakhra baanka baanka
toot gaya mere dil ka taanka
apni ada se kaho zara
is atom bomb ko roke
okay
ruk ruk ruk kahaan chali deewaani
koyi roke
okay

tu mastaani main aazad
khoob mile hain do ustaad
tum jo kaho to do din ji loon
tum pe aashiq ho ke
okay
ruk ruk ruk
kahaan chali deewaani
koyi roke
okay
waada kar ab na karega hum se
tu dhokhe

okay

I think, Mohammed Rafi lip synced for Raj Kapoor for all his songs.
