Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Haal chaal thheek thhaak hai

Posted on: August 8, 2012

This blog is chugging along nicely and it is touching new milestones at regular intervals. Today, with this post, we arrive at yet another milestone.

This post is the 6400th song of this blog. On this occasion, I have chosen a song from “Mere Apne” (1971). The song is sung by Kishore Kumar and Mukesh. It is picturised on several actors viz. Vinod Khanna, Danny, Dinesh Thakur, Paintal etc. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the others visible in the picturisation.

Gulzar is the lyricist and music is composed by Salil Chaudhary.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah. And this happens to be his 100th lyrics contribution to be posted in this blog. He is the fifth lyrics contributor to record 100 songs in this blog. This is a confirmation of my oft repeated observation that this blog is by now a collaboration of like minded music lovers, who are contributing to create a musical repertoire that will hopefully serve as a valuable sourse of authentic information for music lovers.

I take this opportunity to thank all the visitors and well wishers of this blog whose continued support and encouragement has seen the blog through to this position. And here is hoping that this musical bandwagon will continue to reach newer milestones and we will continue to scale newer heights with the passage of time.

haal chaal theek thaak hai,

lagta hai woh bhi ainvayi kiya
BA kiya hai,
MA kiya
lagta hai woh bhi ainvayi kiya
kaam nahi hai warna yahaan
aap ki dua iss sab theek thaak hai

haal chaal theek thaak hai,
sab kuchh theek thaak hai hai hai hai hai

aab-o-hawaa
waa waa waa waa waa waa
aab-o-hawa desh ki bahut saaph hai
kayda hai kaanoon hai,
insaaf hai
allah miyaan jaane
koi jiye yaa mare
aadmi ko khoon voon sab maaf hai

aab-o-hawa desh ki bahut saaph hai
kaayda hai kaanoon hai,
insaaf hai
allah miyan jaane koi jiye yaa mare
aadmi ko khoon voon sab maaf hai

aur kyaa kahoon,
chhoti moti chori
rishwat khori
deti hai apna guzaara yahaan
aap ki dua se baaki theek thaak hai
haal chaal theek thaak hai,
sab kuchh thheek thhaak hai

blee blee blee blee oo oo oon
blee blee blee blee oo oooon
blee blee blee blee oo oo oon
blee blee blee blee oo oo oon
blee blee blee blee oo oo oon

bazaaron ke bhaav
bazaaron ke bhaav
haan bazaro ke bhaav mere taau se bade
makaanon pe pagdiwale sasur khade

budhhi bhookh marti nahin zinda hai abhi
koi un buzurgon se kaise lade
bazaaron ke bhaav mere taau se bade
makaano ke pagdiwaale sasur khade

budhhi bhookh marti nahin zinda hai abhi
koi un buzurgon se kaise lade
aur kya kahu
roz koi meeting

roz koi bhaashan
bhasan pe ration nahi hai yahaan
aap ki dua se baaki theek thak hai
very good
haal chaal theek thaak hai,
sab kuchh thik thak hai hai hai

gol gol roti ka pahiya chala
gol gol roti ka pahiya chala
peechhe peechhe chaandi ka rupaiya chalaa
roti ko bechaari ko
cheel le gayi oh teri
chandi le ke munh kaala kauva chalaa

gol gol roti ka pahiya chala
peechhe peechhe chandi ka rupaiya chalaa
roti ko bechaari ko
cheel le gayi oh teri
chaandi le ke munh kala kauva chalaa

aur kyaa kahoon
maut ka tamaasha
chalaa hai betahaasha
jeene ki phursat nahi hai yahaan
aap ki dua se baaki theek thaak hai
very good
haal chaal thik thak hai, sab kuchh theek thaak hai
BA kiya hai, MA kiya

Nitin ji, many congratulations on posting the 100th song, A remarkable milestone.

Hats off to Atul too, for sustaining & persevering with this blog and encouraging reader participation.

I sincerely hope this blog reaches many more glorious landmarks.

Nithin ji, congratulation on your Century.

The lyrics of this song have typical Gulzar stamp – conveying serious things in a lighter mode and that too in most commonly used words . There is sarcasm in every stanza of the song.

I always felt that whenever Kishore Kumar had sung with one or more other male singers, it was his voice which predominated the song. This song is an exception. It is Mukesh who has dominated with his voice lock, stock and barrel.

Congratulations Atul for the 64th century of the blog and to Nitin for his maiden century.

Atul ji,
CONGRATULATIONS for yet another milestone-6400 songs.
I totally agree with you about active participation of fellow travellers on this Musical Yatra.
I am sure that in the Internet history this blog must be a RECORD for so many songs, with related info, lyrics and translations. No less than a reference point for the students of Hindi Film Music.
Wish you many more such Milestones.

Congratulations on another milestone, 6400 songs!
Nitinbhai,
Like Arunji has said, I was thinking same as you must be the fastest in this marathon. This song must also be your Latest movie song. As long as I remember, you are from era 40s, 50s and 60s. To ye milestone song dekh ke thoda acharaj hua. તમને ફરીને અભિનંદન. (Tamne phari ne abhinandan – Congratulations to you again)

Congratulations to Nitin Sir on 100th song and to Atul ji all the regular contributors for the 64th century. On this occasion i am remembering another of Gulzar’s song :

is mod se jaate hain
kuchh sust qadam raste
kuchh tez qadam raahen
kuchh sust qadam raste
kuchh tez qadam raahen
patthar ki haweli ko
sheeshe ke gharaundon mein
tinkon ke nasheman tak
is mod se jaate hain

Regards.

Thanks ! I hope that most of our centuries will be “tez” and not “sust”.

Wow! Nitin’s 10 squared song which is Atul’s 80 squared! I am sure at the rate at which the blog hits are growing, very soon our blog will have 1000 squared hits (=10 lakhs hits). Apologies for bringing in a mathematical comment into this musical blog.

Like

Thanks !

That is a very interesting observation. I did not notice this coincidence that the post number was 102 and 802 respectively for Nitin Shah and the blog respectively.

10 lakh hits is quite far off though, unless the blog begins to get more number of visitors. 🙂

Oops, sorry, my Math failed when when I got to these high numbers. The last past of the comment ought to have been 10000 squared hits (= 10 million hits).

I am really overwhelmed with your kind and encouraging words. This will spur me to attain another marathon century with your kind support and continued cooperation. Thanks once again
Atulji Congrats to you also for making me the fastest centurion. Without your support and cooperation this would not have been possible. Hope to receive the same help and encouragement.
Congrats to you for achieving another milestone. It was sweet coincidence and convergence that both the milestone occurred on the same the day. Quite filmy hey (pun intended) !!! It could not have been possible without your passion and dogged perseverance. Please keep the flag flying we are all there to hold it.
Thanks again everyone. Thanks
Santoshji square of 10000 is 100 million not 1 million. Being an engineering student I could not help correcting it. The period we are concentrating may not reach even 1 lakh(please correct me)

@ Shah Saheb – thanks for this Gulzars evergreen sarcastic gem. It is still relevant. i like this song very much and it took me years to get its audio for my collection. Very meaningful and visionary song because years after this the social scenario in our country remains the same.Unemployment on the rise and inflation running high, and ‘maut ka tamaasha’ chalaa hai betahaasha -still going- “jeene ki phursat nahi hai yahaan” – the common man in mess as always and an ideal condition for the politicians to have their game successful and the other beneficiary’s the anti- socials, because ‘aam aadmi’ can not take time to fight after ‘din bahr ki majoori’.The country runs like this and that’s why – aap ki dua se baaki theek thaak hai
@ Peevesie – i agree with you that the “lagta hai woh bhi MA kiya” needs correction. it is ‘ainvayi’ which is a Punjabi word meaning ‘aise hi’ and translation would be ‘Just Like That’ .
@ Atul ji- Kindly review please.
