Yaaron soorat hamaari pe mat jaao

Posted on: August 14, 2012

Today (14 august 2012) is the first death anniversary of Shammi Kapoor. It is unbelievable but true that one year has already passed when we have been without him.

As a tribute to Shammi Kapoor, we will discuss a few songs on this occasion that were picturised on Shammi Kapoor.

Here is an all male duet sung by Rafi and Mukesh. The song is from “Ujaala” (1959) and the song is picturised as a roadside tamaasha song on Shammi Kapoor and Raj Kumar who play pickpockets in the picturisation.

Shailendra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

yaaron soorat hamaari pe mat jaao
yaaron soorat hamaari pe mat jaao
yahaan bhi dil hai
yoon humse na katraao
yahaan bhi dil hai
yoon humse na kataraao
yaaaron soorat hamaari pe mat jaao
yahaan bhi dil hai
yoon hamse na katraao
yaaron soorat hamaari pe mat jaao

hum bhi hain dil ke shah-e-jahaan
pyaar pe sab kuchch hai kurbaan
o hum bhi hain dil ke shah-e- jahaan
aarre pyaar pe sab kuchch hai kurbaan
zaraa si hai garibi
yehi hai kamnaseebi
zaraa si hai garibi
yehi hai kamnaseebi
ke unnse abhi na huyee pehchaan
yaaron soorat hamaari pe mat jaao
yaaron soorat hamaari pe mat jaao
yahaan bhi dil hai
yoon humse na katraao
yaaaron soorat hamaari pe mat jaao

aapki daulat zindaabad
o aapki jebein zindaabaad
imaan ki kahenge
kahenge phir kahenge
imaan ki kahenge
kahenge phir kahenge
ke pet ye paapi murdaabaad
yaaron soorat hamaari pe mat jaao
yaaron soorat hamaari pe mat jaao
yahaan bhi dil hai
yoon humse na katraao
yaaaron soorat hamaari pe mat jaao

jaane kaisaa hai ye jahaan
arre jeenaa mushkil maut aasaan
o jaane kaisaa hai ye jahaan
haaye jeenaa mushkil maut aasaan
hum phir bhi jee rahe hain
zakhmon ko see rahe hain
hum phir bhi jee rahe hain
zakhmon ko see rahe hain
ye aap sabon kaa hai ehsaan
yaaron soorat hamaari pe mat jaao
yaaron soorat hamaari pe mat jaao
yahaan bhi dil hai
yoon humse na katraao
yahaan bhi dil hai
yoon hamse na katraao
yaaron soorat hamaari pe mat jaao
yaaron soorat hamaari pe mat jaao

Atul,
Please correct the tags to ‘Rafi’ and ‘Rafi-Mukesh’ song.
Also correct the name of the singer in the write-up to Rafi instead of Manna Dey.

Hi Atul
i was just told by Peevesie that its the 1st Anniversary of Shammi Kapoor. can’t believe it. & then i looked up here and saw u had put up 2 Shammi numbers. one very popular one hardly heard. and what a unique jodi— Raj Kumar with Shammi!!!! i know the star cast of the movie even then this song came as a shocker when i saw it just now.
& trust Prakashchandra to come up wioth a new song!!! Thanks to the team work of Atul & PC

hullo to all in atuldom
so let me tell you a little about the background of this song.
it seems that this movie began with only Shammi Kapoor having songs. and apparently on a particular day when he was not on the sets he got a news that the shooting of the movie has been stalled by the “zidd” of Raj Kumaar who also wanted to have songs and dance in the movie. that is when this song was penned and composed. and to imagine Raj Kumaar trying to keep pace with an energetic Shammi Kapoor.
heard this anecdote on “Masti Channel” yesterday in the show “Golden Era With Annu Kapoor”
Interesting thought i will share it here.
