“Shehnaai”(1947) was a Filmistan Production movie. It was directed by P L Santoshi. The movie had Nasir Khan, Rehana, Indumati, Mumtaz Ali, Dulari, V H Desai, Leela Mishra, Kumkum etc in it.
The movie had awesome and innovative songs in it, and all these songs were of different genre too.
As many as seven songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the eight song from this movie.
This song is a Krishn bhajan and what a nice bhajan it is. Most credits mention this song as sung by Binapani Mukherji and Meena Kapoor, but there is a male voice too in the song. P L Santoshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by C Ramchandra.
The picturisation shows a few ladies and a gentleman singing this bhajan. The matriach lip syncing in Binapani Mukherjee’s voice is none other than Leela Mishra ! Yes she was around in 1947 too and she had begun to play matronly roles even in 1940s. I am unable to identify the other younger ladies as well as the gentleman in the picturisation. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify these actors as well as the unknown male playback singer.
PS-As suggested by two of our regulars, I am assuming that the male voice is C Ramchandra (it sounds like him alright).

Lady at 2:42 looks like Dulari. Male voice sounds like Chitalkarji. The male actor looks like V.H.Desai. These are just my guesses. Someone needs to confirm.

For me also, the male voice sounds like Chitalkar. The female actor on the extreme right with taals is Dulari.
