“Mela” (1948) was a Wadia Films production. It was produced by S U Sunny and Hila Wadia and directed by S U Sunny. The movie had Dilip Kumar, Nargis, Jeevan, Roopkamal, Amar, Rehman, Baby Zubaida, Nurjehan, Chandabai, Allaudin, Khalil, Abbas, Maqbul Jr., Gulam Mohmed Jr etc in it.

This song is sung by Shamshad Begam and chorus and later Mukesh also joins in. This song is picturiused on Nargis and her sahelis and later Dilip Kumar lip syns in Mukesh’s voice.
Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist and music is composed by Naushad.
The song is basically calling the sajan (beloved) to come home since the “saawan ritu” (rainy season, which is the season of love in India and especially in Hindi movies 🙂 ) has arrived.

Atul ji,
There were 12 songs in the film,but these balance 2 songs are 2 versions of the same song-
Dharati ko aakash pukare-Shamshad and Mukesh and
same song sung by Shamshad alone.
