on:“Bahaar” (1951) was an A V M Production. It was directed by M V Raman. The movie had Karan Dewan, Vyjyanti Mala (making her Hindi movie debut), Pandhari Bhai, Pran, Tabassum, Gope, Shymalal, Chaman Puri, Leela Misra, Sunder, Om Prakash, etc in it.
As many as four songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the fifth song from this movie.
This song is sung by Talat Mehmood. The partial picturisation of the song shows that it is a background song. Pandhari bai (I hope I have identified her correctly) is feeling helpless and frustrated in her life and she sets out of her home in adverse weather braving rain, thunderstorm, dangerous creatures etc. The song plays in the background beseeching her to be brave and not to give up.
Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by S D Burman.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Atif M, and later by Khyati Bhatt too.

Song-Ae zindagi ke raahi himmat na haar jaana (Bahaar)(1951) Singer-Talat Mehmood, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-S D Burman
Lyrics(Provided by Atif M)
ae zindagi ke raahi
himmat na haar jaana
himmat na haar jaana
ae zindagi ke raahi
ee ee ee
ae zindagi ke raahi
himmat na haar jaana
beetegi raat gham ki
badlega ye zamaana
ae zindagi ke raahi
kyun raat ki siyaahi
tujh ko daraa rahi hai
kyun raat ki siyaahi
tujh ko daraa rahi hai
haare huye musaafir
manzil bulaa rahi hai
haare huye musaafir
manzil bulaa rahi hai
bas jaayega kisi din
ujda jo aashiyaana
beetegi raat gham ki
badlega ye zamaana
ae zindagi ke raahi
haathon se tere daaman
umeed ka na chhoote
haathon se tere daaman
umeed ka na chhoote
dam toot jaaye lekin
himmat kabhi na toote
ae ae
dam toot jaaye lekin
himmat kabhi na toote
marne mein kya dhara hai
jeene ka kar bahaana
beetegi raat gham ki
badlega ye zamaana
ae zindagi ke raahi

This was a remake of Tamil film Vazhkai 1949(Jeevitham in Telugu). Many songs in the original film are still popular but some were copied from earlier Hindi tunes. As far as I can remember the tunes in the Hindi film are different. Surprisingly one tune in Vazhkai is very similar to one from Patanga which came out in the same year. The patanga song is
‘pyar ke jahan ki nirali sarkar’

Atulji,
While writing the lyrics of this song, I found the link Bahar-51 Titles on YT. If you notice, Pandari Bai’s name is not listed, instead, Padmini name appears. Later I read on one site, that her name was changed from PB to Padmini.
She had acted in almost 1500 films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. She died on Jan 29, 2003. Here is the clip of this info.

Anybody knows the real story?
