Ya keh de ham insaan nahin

Posted on: October 7, 2012

“Chhaaya” (1961) was an A V M Production movie. It was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherji. This movie had Sunil Dutt, Nirupa Roy, Nazir Hussain, Mohan Choti, Achla Sachdev, Asit Sen, Farida, Asha Parekh, Asim Kumar, Lalita Pawar etc in it.

This movie had seven songs in it and as many as five of these songs have already been covered.

Here is the sixth song from this movie. This song is sung by Rafi. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Salil Chaudhary.

The picturisation shows Nirupa Roy in a homeless state alongwith her young kid. A blind beggar sings this “remonstrating with the Almighty” genre of song. The lyrics of this song must have been quite original at that time. Rajinder Krishan was quite a creative lyricist in new and innovative ideas in even seemingly routine situations.

I am unable to identify the actor lip syncing in Rafi’s voice. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify him.

Song-Ya keh de ham insaan nahin (Chaaya)(1961) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-Salil Chaudhary

Lyrics

Ya keh de ham insaan nahin
ya maan jaa tu Bhagwaan nahin
ya keh de ham insaan nahin
ya maan jaa tu Bhagwaan nahin
ya keh de ham insaan nahin
ya maan jaa tu Bhagwaan nahin
een een

ham apni khushi se aaye nahin
duniya mein hamen tu laaya hai
ham apni khushi se aaye nahin
duniya mein hamen tu laaya hai
ye sach hai agar to
phir hamse kyun door teri hi chaaya hai
kyaa ham tere mehmaan nahin
ya keh de ham insaan nahin
ya maan jaa tu Bhagwaan nahin

ye gham ki dhoop to di lekin
khushiyon ki kabhi barsaat na di
ye gham ki dhoop to di lekin
khushiyon ki kabhi barsaat na di
jo chain ko neend mein kat jaati
aisi to kabhi ik raat na di
kya apna koi armaan nahin
ya keh de ham insaan nahin
ya maan jaa tu Bhagwaan nahin
een een

ghabraa ke kabhi dil kehta hai
achcha hai agar ham mar jaayen
ghabraa ke kabhi dil kehta hai
achcha hai agar ham mar jaayen
marna bhi to tere haath mein hai
ye kaam bhi kaise kar jaayen
jeena bhi koi aasaan nahin
ya keh de ham insaan nahin
ya maan jaa tu Bhagwaan nahin
ya keh de ham insaan nahin
ya maan jaa tu Bhagwaan nahin
