The tale of Tarzan was used in Hindi movies beginning from 1937. The original Hindi Tarzan movie was called “Toofaani Tarzan” (1937). This movie was a Wadia Movietone production. It was directed by Homi Wadia. The movie had John Cawas in the title role. The starcast of the movie had John Cawas, Gulshan, Boman Shroff, Chandrashekhar, Nazira, Dalpat, Ahmed Dilwar etc. A wonderful review of this movie is available in Memsaab’s blog.
The first Hindi Tarzan movie was “Toofaani Tarzan” (1937). In this movie John Cawas played Tarzan and Jane was played by Gulshan. This movie was a Wadia Movietone production. We all know that Tarzan was unable to speak, and that ruled out Tarzan singing songs. What a loss ! But have no worry. Other characters could sing very well. So this movie has quite a few songs in it, as befits a movie of those songs.
I have discussed one song from this movie. Here is another song from “Toofani Tarzan” (1937). This song, like the earlier posted song, is sung by Ahmad Dilawar. Pandit Gyan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Master Mohammad.
Only the audio of this song is available, but it is almost certain that this song is picturised on Ahmed Dilawar himself.
