Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Ho keh do keh do tum jo keh do

Posted on: November 8, 2012

One of the major reasons behind the success of Rajesh Khanna movies during his superstar days was their lilting music. What amazing songs these movies had. Rajesh Khanna’s superstar days are long gone and even Rajesh Khanna is no longer among us but the music of those songs continue to remain alive in memory.

“Sachcha Jhoothha” (1970) was an archtypical Rajesh Khanna movie. It had Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz. It had songs sung by Kishore Kumar. It had a rain song picturised on Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz. It had Rajesh Khanna performing his trademark jig. In a way, this movie had everything that a Rajesh Khanna movie was supposed to have. And moreover it had not one but two of him. Yes, Rajesh Khanna played double role in this movie.

The songs of this movie were unbelievably popular. The title song “Dil ko dekho chehra na dekho” was on every lip and every loudspeaker, the song Yoon hi tum mujhse baat karti ho ya koi pyaar ka was a romantic song par excellence, as also the song Karle pyaar karle aankhen chaar karle, and the most popular song from this movie among pre teen kids was Meri pyaari bahaniya banegi dulhaniya saj ke aayenge dulhe Raja bhaiyya Raja bajaayehga baaja. Our own Raja was at the receiving end of his friends jokes those days who would tease him by singing this song. 🙂

What ! I have run out of songs from this movie !! It turns out that “Sachcha Jhoothha” (1970) had only five songs in it and four of them have already been discussed. Only five songs !! The songs of this movie were all over the place, so much so that it appeared as if there were many songs in this movie.

Here is the fifth and final song from this movie. This song is sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata and it is picturised on Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz. Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji.

And as always, I am pleased with the fact that “Sachcha Jhoothha” (1970) joins the ranks of movies which have had all their songs covered in the blog.

Lovely Post Atul ji !!! as usual all posts that describes about the Rajesh Khanna days are special for me. And as usual in my case i had seen this movie also many times and all of its songs are good. Even few months back the movie was included in tata sky’s Rajesh Khanna special after his death. I t was a treat to watch it again, and specially the song ‘meri pyaari bahaniya banegi dulhaniyaa’ … in his own style. Thanks again!!!
and last but not the least, with posts covering the various periods coming fast the ‘ deepawali’ vacation seems ‘nostalgic’ special with this musical journey …

I attended the recording of this particular song in Famous Studio. Bombay Central sometime in 1969. Kishore came quite early for rehearsal. Lata came and in 2/3 takes it was all over. Great Show
