“Anarkali” (1953) was a Filmistan Production. It was directed by Nandlal Jaswantlal. The movie had Pradeep Kumar, Bina Rai, Mubarak, Kuldip Kaur, Sulochana, S. L. Puri, Manmohan Krishna, Noorjahan etc in it.
This movie was a musical blockbuster and all its songs have gone on to become timeless classics.
As many as nine songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. If any song from this movie have not yet been discussed then that song will easily belong to the “how come this song was not discussed before” category.
It turns out that there is indeed one such song ! And this song is the timeless classic song “Muhabbat aisi dhadkan hai jo samjhaayi nahi jaati”. This song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Bina Rai.
Today (6 december 2012) is Bina Rai’s third death anniversary. So today is an appropriate day to discuss this song as a tribute to Bina Rai.

Opening sha’ir ‘s second line is :
ik shamaa jal rahi hai
‘so’ woh bhi udaas hai
It may seem like ‘toe’ but it is written as ‘soe’ and Lata is singing correctly as ‘so’. In urdu/hindi this type of sentence is used commonly, ek………. so………., especially in north india.
Chhoti si baat hai, lekin bataana theek lagaa, so likh diyaa. Please dont mind.
