“Kathputli” (1957) was a Shrirangam Productions movie. It was produced by Amiya Chakravarty and Ajit Kumar Chakravarty. The movie was directed by Amiya Chakravary and Nitin Bose. The reason why there were two producers and directors for this movie was that Amiya Chakravarty died during the making of this movie and therefore the movie had to be completed by other personnel.
The movie had Balraj Sahni, Vyjayanthimala, Kamala Kumari, Jawahar Kaul, Agha, C. S. Dubey, Sheila Kashmiri, Shyam Kumar, Poonam, Laxman Rao, Jharna, Jagat Pal, Vijay, Robert etc in it.
The movie had seven songs in it. As many as six of these songs have already been discussed in the past.
Here is the seventh and final song from the movie. This song is a “lullaby” song. It is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Vyjyanti Mala who sings this lullaby to a small kid playing widower Balraj Sahni’s motherless child.
Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Atif M.
With this song, “Kathputli” (1957) joins the ranks of movies with all their songs covered in the blog.

Lyrics(Provided by Atif M)
so ja re so ja mere
raaj dulaare so ja
taare bhi so gaye
dharti ke sitaare so ja
so ja re so ja mere
raaj dulaare so ja
taare bhi so gaye
dharti ke sitaare so ja
so ja re so ja
aayi sapnon ki pari
tujh ko bulaane ke liye
aayi sapnon ki pari
tujh ko bulaane ke liye
laayi chanda ka hindola
woh sulaane ke liye
laayi chanda ka hindola
woh sulaane ke liye
aasmaanon se karey
neend ishaare so ja
taare bhi so gaye
dharti ke sitaare so ja
so ja re so ja
godd mein lengi tujhe
roop nagar ki raahen
godd mein lengi tujhe
roop nagar ki raahen
aankh khulte hi milengi
tujhe maan ki baahen
aankh khulte hi milengi
tujhe maan ki baahen
noor aankhon ke mere
dil ke sahaare so ja
taare bhi so gaye
dharti ke sitaare so ja
so ja re so ja mere
raaj dulaare so ja
taare bhi so gaye
dharti ke sitaare so ja
so ja re so ja

Atul Ji, the movie had 8 songs, and we have covered all the songs. I say 8 because “Bol Re Kathputhli” had 2 versions.
So time to say Yippeeee!, another movie joins the ranks of movies where all songs have been covered on the blog.
It is December, and I remember 2 years back we had been to the club to celebrate New Years Eve, and one of the guests was Vyjayanthimala Ji. For some reason I could not go disturb her and have a conversation with her. I guess I have the courage now, and if I happen to go to the club and if she happens to come too, will go talk to her, and tell her about our fantastic blog.

Pradeep ji, Atul ji,
Technically, I think we still need to incorporate both the versions of the song “Bol Ri Kathputli Dori Kaun Sang Baandhi”, before we announce the completion for this film. So far only one version, the sad one, is actually posted with lyrics in place. The link and lyrics of the happy version still needs to be incorporated into the post.
Atul ji,
I am sending the lyrics and a new link for the happy version in a separate email.
