Tumhaari bhi jai jai hamaari bhi jai jai

Posted on: December 14, 2012

“Deewaana” (1967) was an Anupam Chitra Production. It was produced and directed by Mahesh Kaul. The movie had Raj Kapoor, Saira Banu, Lalita Pawar, Kamal Kapoor, Ravindra Kapoor, Hiralal, Ulhas, Salim Khan, Kanhaiyalal, Leela Mishra, Jankidas, Nasreen, Pal Sharma, Paul Mahendra, Bazid Khan, Brahm Bhardwaj, Tiwari etc in it.

Today (14 december) is the birth anniversary of Raj Kapoor. This day also happens to be the death anniversary of Shailendra. On this occasion, here is a song from “Deewaana” (1967). This song is sung by Mukesh and it is picturised on Raj Kapoor who is shown bidding farewell to Saira Bano at the railway station. The song plays on while Saira Bano is shown going away in the train.

Shailendra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Atif M.

PS-It turns out that the song has a female version too which is sung by Sharda. That way it is a multiple version song.

Only the audio of Sharda version is available and it is quite noisy, so the lyrics of this version may have a few errors in it. I request our readers with keener ears to point out errors in the Sharda version of the song.

tumhaari bhi jai jai
hamaari bhi jai jai
na tum haare

tumhaari bhi jai jai
hamaari bhi jai jai
na tum haare
na hum haare
safar saath jitna thha
ho hi gaya tai
na tum haare

tumhaari bhi jai jai
hamaari bhi jai jai

yaad ke phool ko hum to apne
dil se rahenge lagaaye
yaad ke phool ko hum to apne
dil se rahenge lagaaye
aur tum bhi hans lena jab yeh
deewaana yaad aaye
milenge jo phir se mila den sitaare
na tum haare na hum haare
tumhaari bhi jai jai
hamaari bhi jai jai

waqt kahaan rukta hai to phir
tum kaise ruk jaate
waqt kahaan rukta hai to phir
tum kaise ruk jaate
aakhir kisne chaand chhua hai
hum kyun haath badhaate
jo us paar ho tum
to hum is kinaare
na tum haare
na hum haare
tumhaari bhi jai jai
hamaari bhi jai jai

thha to bahut kehne ko lekin
ab to chup behtar hai
thha to bahut kehne ko lekin
ab to chup behtar hai
yeh duniya hai ek saraaye
jeewan ek safar hai
ruka bhi hai koyi kisi ke pukaare
na tum haare
na hum haare
safar saath jitna thha
ho hi gaya tay
safar saath jitna tha
ho hi gaya tai
tumhaari bhi jai jai
hamaari bhi jai jai

ho ke rahenge
ham tum hardam
jaise deep aur jyoti
ho ke rahenge
ham tum hardam
jaise deep aur jyoti
saunp chuki hoon
main to tumko
apne man ka moti
ab hoke na chhoote
ab ye sahaare

tumhaari bhi jai jai
hamaari bhi jai jai

Atul Ji, 3 songs from this movie have been discussed on the blog, there are 3 more songs left namely.. “Deewana Mujhko Log Kahein”, “Pate Ki Baat Kahega”, “Taaron Se Pyaare” all sung by Mukesh. I guess all songs in this movie were solo numbers sung by Mukesh?

Taaron se pyare song was also sung by Sharda (solo) picturised on Sairabanu

A good song. But a song from TEESRI KASAM written by Shailendra and picturized on Raj Kapoor would have been better. The film was a box-office failure and cause of Shailendra’s (producer’s) untimely death. What has happened to his family ?
