Preet ki jyot jalaakar chup hai

Posted on: March 12, 2013

“Vish Kanya” (1943) a Ranjit Production movie. The movie was directed by Kidar Sharma. It had Surendra, Sadhana Bose, Prithviraj kapoor, Kamla, Leela Mishra, Sulochana, Brijmala etc in it.

One song from this movie has been discussed in the past. Here is another song from the movie. This song is sung by Surendra. Kidar Sharma is the lyricist. Music is composed by Khemchand Prakash.

Only the audio of this song is available, but it is certain that the song was picturised on Surendra himself.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.

Here is this lovely song that was recorded exactly seventy years ago.

Song-Preet ki jyot jalaakar chup hai (Vishkanya)(1943) Singer-Surendra, Lyrics-Kidar Sharma, MD-Khemchand Prakash

Lyrics(Provided by Nitin Shah)

preet ki jyot jalaakar chup hai
preet ki jyot jalaakar chup hai
man mein aag basaakar chup hai
man mein aag basakar chup hai
nainan neer bahaakar chup hai
nainan neer bahaakar chup hai
rokar chup muskaakar chup hai
rokar chup muskaakar chup hai
jyot jalaakar chup hai
chup hai
jyot jalaakar chup hai

ek tamaasha nit hota hai
ek tamaasha nit hota hai
ham hanste hain chitt rota hai
ham hanste hain chitt rota hai
ghar mein aag lagaakar chup hai
ghar mein aag lagaakar chup hai
rokar chup muskaakar chup hai
rokar chup muskaakar chup hai
jyot jalaakar chup hai
chup hai
jyot jalaakar chup hai

nirmohi ko meet banaaya aa aa
nirmohi ko meet banaaya aa aa
naav mein toofaan bithhaaya
naav mein toofan bithhaaya aa aa
apna aap lutaakar chup hai
apna aap lutaakar chup hai
madhukar hook dabaakar chup hai
madhukar hook dabakar chup hai
rokar chup muskaakar chup hai
rokar chup muskaakar chup hai
jyot jalaakar chup hai
chup hai
jyot jalaakar chup hai

It is a ultra-modern song depicting the golden silence and the powerful response it evokes. The silence wins finally but not before demolishing the patience of the man in front. Such an elaborate depiction of lover’s helplessness is rare even these days. Wow.
