Raj Ratan is the name that I am not familiar with. This music director is making a debut on this blog today. When I came across this name as I checked on this song, it did not sound very familiar. I did some quick scanning of the Geet Kosh, but am not able to locate too much more work done by this composer. In the quick scan I did, I am able to pull up just two more films by him, and that too in the years far apart (‘Ramu Ustad’ in 1971, and ‘Madine Ki Galiyan’ in 1979). It appears as if he is a person who is active in the industry as an assistant music director, and has had an occasional opportunity to independently score music, as a music director.
And so, we have another debut of another film that is opening its account on this blog today. ‘Dekha Pyaar Tumhaara’ is a film from 1963 that was produced under the banner of Mamta Movies, Bombay. The film is directed by K Parvez, and the list of actors includes Naaz, Subi Raj, Bhagwan, Achla Sachdev, Helen, Madan Puri, Sadhna Chaudhry, and Shyam etc. The six songs of this film are all written by Majrooh Sultanpuri.
The Geet Kosh is silent on the singing voice of this song, but seeing that it is Helen song on screen, I very much believe that this voice is of Asha ji. I would request other readers to please confirm or correct this guess work.
The song is a dance item in a restaurant. One can see Bhagwan and Subi Raj in this clip. Also visible are Naaz and Madan Puri. There is one more actress present, a lady who is dressed like a man. Madan Puri and this lady appear to be accomplices working together for crime. While the song is in progress, this lady, dressed as a man, approaches Naaz who is sitting on a different table, and by the end of the song, Naaz realizes that her necklace is missing, most likely stolen. Could this lady be Sadhna Chaudhry? Once again, I would request other knowledgeable readers to help identify this actress.
A Helen song, just by the nature of what it is, has to be a foot tapping number with a terrific rhythm and pace. On those counts, the music director scores very well. The music is catchy, and hummable. I am sure you will enjoy it.

Am I right ???
