“Bhai Bhai” (1956) was an AVM Productions movie. It was produced by A V Meiyappan and directed by M V Raman.
The movie had Ashok Kumar, Kishore Kumar, Nimmi, Nirupa Roy, Shyama, Om Prakash, David, Master Chottu, Kesari, Shivaraj, Master Arun, Master Babu, Roop Kumar etc in it.
I was under the impression that Nimmi, the leading lady of this movie, lip synced only in Lata’s voice in this song. It turns out that my impression was incorrect.
Here is a song from “Bhai Bhai” (1956) which is sung by Asha Bhonsle and it is picturised as a stage song on Nimmi and another lady (dressed as a male). The spectators include Ashok Kumar, Kishore Kumar and several others.
Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Madan Mohan.

The lady dressed as a male is E V Saroja. She, later on, acted in many Tamil and Telugu movies. Along with Ashok Kumar are seated Om Prakash and Shyama. Ashok Kumar is happily married to Nirupa Roy. Om Prakash and his sister Shyama conspire to ruin him. Nimmi was paired with Kishore Kumar. Shyama’s song, ‘”Ai dil mujhe batade, tu kispe aa gaya hai…” sung by Geeta Dutt was a smash hit. There’s a beautiful song sung by Lata and picturised on Nirupa Roy, “Mere chhota sa dekho ye sansar hai…” A V Meiyappan had earned a lot of fame for making movies in Tamil. Talugu and Hindi. These days, more than half a century later, his grandson has become a household name for all the wrong reasons! His name? Gurunath Meiyappan, the son-in-law of S Srinivasan of BCCI!
