Jan gan man adhinaayak jaya hey Bharat bhaagya vidhaata

on:Today (15 august 2013) is the 66th Independence day of India. This is the sixth independence day for the blog. I greet all Indians, whereever they are, and wish them a very happy Independence day.
Today the Indian national flag would be hoisted and that would be followed by singing of the national anthem (Jan Gan Man).
The national anthem as sung on this occasions is one stanza long and takes less than a minute to sing.
This anthem was written by Rabindranath Tagore in 1911. The full song is five stanza long and it is written in Sanskritised Bangla.
This song was adopted as Indian national anthem on 24 january 1950 and it was first sung on a national day on 26 january 1950 when India became a republic.
This song was included in “Hamraahi” (1945). Though this movie had music by R C Boral, but for this song, the credits for lyrics and tune of this song were rightly given to Ravindranath Tagore. This song is four stanzas long. It excludes the fourth stanza and contains first, second, third and fifth stanza.
On the occasion of Indian independence day, here is this “nearly” full version of the Indian national anthem from “Hamraahi” (1945). This was the first time that I heard the unabridged version of Indian national anthem. I have got this lyrics from an online source and I gratefully acknowledge that.
The fact that this song was a part of “Hamraahi” (1945) was pointed out to me by Nitin Shah.

Independence day greetings to all!! I was thrilled to hear the nearly full version of the National Anthem. Sometimes I feel we have lost our great nation, instead we have states fighting against each other. Thank you Atul-ji for the posting.
