“Nishaan” (1965) was a Basant Pictures production. It was produced by Homi Wadia and directed by Aspi Irani. The movie had Sanjeev Kumar, Nazima, Helen, Prem Chopra, Sheikh Mukhtar, Shammi, Mukri, Samson, Sulochana Latkar, Ratnamala, Babu Raje, Hiralal, Bismillah, Uma Dutt, Gaikwad, Korega, Mithoo Miyan, Yadav etc in it.

Six songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the seventh and final song from the movie.

This song is a drunkard song which shows Sanjeev Kumar and Nazima drunk and Nazima lip syncing in Asha Bhonsle’s voice. Asha Bhonsle has sung this song superbly, as usual.

Jawed Anwar is the lyricist. Music is composed by Usha Khanna.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Atif M.

With this song, “Nishaan” (1965) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Song-Saaqiyaa thhodi thhodi bekhudi hai (Nishaan)(1965) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Jawed Anwar, MD-Usha Khanna

Lyrics(Provided by Atif M)

thhodi thhodi bekhudi hai
main kya jaanoon
kis ne pee hai
yeh mohabbat ka asar hai
dil ki masti hai
thhodi thhodi bekhudi hai
main kya jaanun
kis ne pee hai

jaam badley huye hain magar
har sharaab ek hai
naam badley huye hain magar
har shabaab ek hai
ek hai husn ki har ada
thhodi thhodi bekhudi hai
main kya jaanoon
kis ne pee hai

mere behke qadam hain to kya
dil to maasoom hai
pyaar mein bhi hai kitna nasha
tumko maaloom hai
dekh lo dillagi ka maza
thhodi thhodi bekhudi hai
main kya jaanoon
kis ne pee hai

dhadkanon ke yeh paighaam lo
waqt hai meharbaan
khoobsoorat sa ilzaam lo
darr hai kya jaan-e-jaan
hum farishte hain
na tum khuda
thhodi thhodi bekhudi hai
main kya jaanoon
kis ne pee hai
yeh mohabbat ka asar hai
dil ki masti hai
thhodi thhodi bekhudi hai
main kya jaanoon
kis ne pee hai

Atul ji – Many Congratulations on this YIPPEE moment !!!

I must listen to this song in the evening when I am home.

I love another song from this film ‘Hai tabassum tera’. I was looking for that song under the tag ‘Nishaan’ but could not find it. I had to do a bit of sleuthing to discover that the song was saved under the tag ‘Nishan’.

I was surprised to discover that Sanjeev Kumar had started his career with such swashbuckling roles. Sweet faced Nazima was his co-star here and another similar role – Raja aur Runk.

When Hari Zariwala who was already an experienced theatre actor debuted in films with screen name of Sanjeev Kumar, he impressed most of the film critics and also movie-goers by the ease and confidence with he had faced the camera and the resultant free-flowing and natural acting. The performance was all the more cridtable since it was in a double role in his very first film.

Sanjeev Kumar started his career playing a cop in Sunil Dutt’s Hum Hindustani (1960).

Oh I did not he was in Hum Hindustani!

Sorry for the inadvertent spelling error (in haste). Please reaad it as ‘Creditable’

Lovely song. Asha has sung it so well.

Sanjeev Kumar can be seen in “Aao Pyar Karen” (1964) in a very minor role. In the song Ye jhuki jhuki jhuki jhuki nigaahen (, he is one of the friends.

Interesting to note that four years after his debut, he would do such a paltry, uncredited role.

Avinash Ji has already mentioned the Yippeeee! moment, but for my satisfaction I shall say it again ;). Yippeeee! another movie has joins the ranks of movies where all the songs from the movie have been discussed in this blog. Thank you Atul Ji.
