Ek pal ka jeena phir to hai jaana

“Kaho Naa…Pyar Hai” was a movie that released around 14 years ago on January 14th, 2000. It was a movie by, of and for a star son. By a star son means Rakesh Roshan (his father Roshan Lal Nagrath was a star among Bollywood music directors.) of and for a star son means Hrithik Roshan (a star son) who was launched by Rakesh Roshan through this movie. And the music for this movie was by another Roshan – Rajesh Roshan. So we can safely say that this was a triple Roshan treat. The movie also gave a new lease of life to Lucky Ali (son of Mehmood). The screenplay of this movie is credited to Honey Irani and Ravi kapoor who if I am not mistaken is from the other Kapoor khandaan that Arunkumarji spoke about some time last year. (Am I right sir?).

So coming to the movie itself, there are many memories attached with it. Actually whenever this song plays I remember my sweet little niece and a fond smile appears on my face. She was only a few months old when the movie released, but when she was old enough to talk or sing she would sing this in the cutest child-like manner aspecially the part “Ae aaye aa o aaye aa”. I would simply be mesmerised by her. In fact when I was thinking what song to send to the blog for celebrating the twin birthdays of Farah Khan (9th January 1965) & Hrithik Roshan (10th January 1974) my Peevesie suggested this song and promptly wrote out its lyrics for me.

Another memory associated with the song is how my son learnt their dance steps with a friend of his (both are not dancers mind it!!!!) for a get together in our society. This was in 2002. And they were cute little boys (who have now grown up into smart men) simply jumping around through the song. But our society had this knack of encouraging youngsters with this kind of talent and the audience loved them. (That was also the programme where I discovered how well my daughter could dance, she had danced solo for “Madhuban mein jo Kanhaiya kisi Gopi se mile” from Lagaan and without any prior preparation). Thankfully both the boys didn’t pursue dancing in their life. In fact they have not danced ever again.

Oh my god how time flies. All the above mentioned kids will squirm if they read what I have written about them. Also this particular post also made me realise how bachhe toh bade ho jaate hain par yaadon mein hamesha bachhe hi rehte hain!

So let us wish the two- Farah Khan & Hrithik Roshan very Happy Birthdays.

Song-Ek pal ka jeena phir to hai jaana (Kaho Na Pyaar Hai)(2000) Singer-Lucky Ali, Lyrics-Vijay Akela, MD-Rajesh Roshan

Lyrics(Provided by Peevesie)

Ek pal ka jeena
phir to hai jaana,
tohfa kya leke jaayiyee
dil yeh bataana

ek pal ka jeena
phir to hai jaana,
tohfa kya leke jaayiye
dil yeh bataana
khaali haath aaye thhe
hum khaali haath jaayenge
bas pyaar ke do meethhe
bol jhilmilaayenge
to hans
kyun ki duniya ko hai hansaana
ae mere dil tu gaaye jaa..
ae aaye aa o aaye aa
ae mere dil tu gaaye jaa..
ae aaye aa o aaye aa

O oh
aankhon mein dilbar ka sapna bhi hai
haan koi sapna bhi hai…
Oh o o
duniya mein mera koi apna bhi hai
haan koi apna bhi hai
ek chehra khaas hai
jo dil ke paas hai
honthon pe pyaas hai
milne ki aas hai
dilbaron ka magar
kahaan koi thikaana
ae mere dil tu gaaye jaa..
ae aaye aa o aaye aa
ae mere dil tu gaaye jaa
ae aaye aa o aaye aa

ho o o
jeevan khushiyon ka ek jhonka sa hai..
haan koi jhonka sa hai
Oh o o
aur yeh jhonka ek dhokha sa hai
haan koi dhokha sa hai
yeh kaisi hai khushi
jal jal ke jo bujhi
bujh bujh ke jo jali
milke bhi na mili
doston
par kisi haal mein na ghabraana
ae mere dil tu gaaye jaa
ae aaye aa o aaye aa
ae mere dil tu gaaye jaa
ae aaye aa o aaye aa

Indeed, this Ravi kapoor is from the other Khandaan.

Ravi Kapoor was the elder brother of Sr. Shashi(chand) Kapoor, the child artist of the late 40s and early 50s,as mentioned in my articles “Same name confusions” part I.
