“Mem Sahib” (1956) was directed by R C Talwar for Talwar Films. The movie had Meena Kumari, Kishore Kumar, Shammi Kapoor, Kumkum, Shivraj, Pratima Devi etc in it.
This was a delightful movie where Meena Kumari plays a cheerful character and Shammi Kapoor, in his pre Shammi Kapoor avatar plays a suave villain.
Five songs from this movie have been discussed in the past.
Here is the sixth song from the movie. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and it is picturised as a bar/club dance song on an actress whom I am unable to identify and I am not sure about her being Pratima Devi as mentioned by the YT uploader, so I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify her.
Shammi Kapoor is also present in the picturisation as suave villain’s tend to do in Hindi movies.
Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Madan Mohan.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.
This blog has more than 400 Madan Mohan compositions now (this is the 401st Madan Mohan composition). It is mentioned by Sudhir ji that just over 200 more Madan Mohan songs now remain to be discussed and that it is difficult to locate Madan Mohan songs for special occasions, seeing that nearly two third of all such songs are already discussed in the blog.
I have spent much of today researching the remaining Madan Mohan songs. I found some interesting information. I found that Madan Mohan had composed music is around 95 movies and that this blog has songs from 87 of these movies. The Madan Mohan movies that are not yet represented in the blog are “Beti” (1957), “Daak Ghar” (1966), “Asliyat” (1974), “Sharafat Chhod Di Maine” (1976), “Inspector Eagle” (1978), “Jalan” (1978) and “Chaalbaaz” (1980). From my searches, I am unable to find songs from “Beti” (1957 and “Asliyat”(1974). Songs from other movies are available. I also managed to find some superb songs from the list of as yet undiscussed Madan Mohan compositions.
I recall that one regular of this blog who was a big Madan Mohan fan had mentioned in this blog that he had a collection of some 340 odd songs. Now we have already exceeded that figure and it is just a matter of time when all Madan Mohan compositions that are available will be showcased in the blog.
Not just Madan Mohan, some other music directors , viz S D Burman, R D Burman and Naushad are also in their 400s in the blog while others like Ravi, Kalyanji Anandji, O P Nayyar etc are closing on to this figure. Most of them (except R D Burman and Kalyanji Aanndji)have their total number of songs around 600-700 marks, so it means that only over 200 songs each are left to be covered for several leading music directors.
So we can look forward to many landmarks in the days to come with some of the landmarks being rather contrived too, but they are landmarks nevertheless. By contrived landmarks, I mean touching the tally of 500 movies that have all their songs covered, or touching a multiple century mark by a singing duo- to cite just two examples. So keep watching the blog.

Everybody has got the name wrong. Its Protima Devi. She was my fav because of the homely and motherly face and her voice..WOW. Why bring her in at all. Leave her alone; she is mine.

I think Prathima devi is doing roles of mother during those era itself. And I don`t think Prathima Devi got such dancing roles in her life time.

Yes, I also thought so. Pratima Devi getting such dancing roles is as unlikely as Leela Mishra getting such dancing roles.
