Chaandni Raaten – Song No. 10

‘Chaandni Raaten’ as a theme is much broader than the ‘Nainon se naina milaa ke’ theme. If I am looking for one songs on youtube, it is giving at least two other songs having the same sort of mukhda or similar words. Some of the popular one are usually posted, but still more songs are founds which are not posted. I am trying to give some order to these posts. And keeping some songs for special occasions also.

I came to know about this song by Suraiyya in the list of missing Suraiyya songs posted the other day. Just going through the list I found that the missing song from ‘Khoobsurat’ by Madan Mohan is suitable for the theme and also this song from Rajput (1951). The list had songs which are not available online. Even then I searched for the Khoobsurat song on youtube, but that song is not available, as I knew.

At that point of time I thought of sending a mail to Atul ji requesting that if one of these two songs is found while my series is going on, I be permitted to write a post on it. Just before sending that mail, I got a vague notion of having seen the song somewhere with ‘Raat Suhani chanda chamke’ caption with Suraiyya’s photo. A quick search got me the song link, with a bad audio. This link is uploaded recently. But I am sure I have seen this song before on youtube. If I had seen the link recently than it would have been in the list of ‘Chaand’ songs which keeps growing as I keep sending posts for songs. But this song was not in the list earlier.

It is now established that this movie had four songs sung by Suraiyya. Out of the five songs of this movie posted three are sung by her. So this is the fourth and final song by Suraiyya from Rajput (1951). She has just completed 300 songs in the blog so this is likely the 301st song to appear in the blog. Provided no other Suraiyya songs are posted before this post appears.

The song itself is very chirpy, cheerful and direct. It sounds rather happy, and not melancholy as the words suggest. erma Malik is the lyricist and composer is Hansraj Behl.
