“Sehra” (1948) was an Arun Productions movie. Two songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Our beloved inhouse encyclopaedia Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh shared some rare information about this movie at that time. Here is what he has to say about this movie:-
SEHRA(1948), an Arun Production film, was directed initially by R D Bali, who left(or was removed ?) half way and then director D B Joshi completed the direction. The Music Director was S Mohinder and the lyrics were written by SURJIT SETHI. (He wrote lyrics for Paapi-53 which had Rajkapoor/Nargis, Bahadur-53, Nili-50, Sau ka Note-55 etc.). The story and dialogues were by Pt Girish.
The cast was Arunkumar Ahuja and Maya Devi in lead pair. This Maya devi acted in about 30 films, from Jeevan Prabhat-1937 to Alif Laila-1953 including the controversial film Bharosa-1940 by Sohrab Modi.
The others were Nirmala Devi, S Nazir, Sheikh, Leela Mishra etc.
Here is a song from “Sehra”(1948). This song is sung by Nirmala. Lyricist of this song is not known. Music is composed by S Mohinder.
Only the audio of this song is available, but it is clear that the song was picturised on Nirmala herself.
